hook your laptop up to your tv and stream you tube videos - the first three are the hardest, once you've established a habit, it will become part of your routine. I would figure out if you can establish a routine before buying expensive ugly bulky equipment (to make sure you will definitely use it.

Garmin provide the gps tags. You can also set them up to alert you to certain locations, eg arrival at school and you can set up "fenced areas" and get alelts if the gps moves outside that area.

As a runner/biker/snowboarder I wear an id bracelet from www.roadid.com anytime I am doing something adventurous. Very comfortable and you can program the text or purchase new tags if your info changes.

Aha! This is something I have been wanting to do for a while, and would love some advice on a DIY! I have a beautiful vintage scarf I've been wanting to do this with. Its 4ft x 4ft with a really pretty pattern, and will fit perfectly over my bed area...It has a border around the print that goes very close to the edge. I havent been able to figure out a way to hang it *without damaging it*. I'm also slightly ocd, and wouldnt want to hang it if the border was obviously not aligned/wrapped around something at the top. Anyone know of any good ways to do this?

Set the table the day before, if you dont have one set up and obvious bar area with wine glasses, beer glasses, bottle openers, non alcho options etc somewhere guests can easily serve themselves.

Consider food you can prep ahead of time and just heat and serve. Or - My moms best recipe for dessert - Place peeled pears and red wine in slow cooker, leave for 6 hours. Serve with cream or ice cream. Perfection.

I kind of like the unexpected angle of this. Thought i think it only really works in massive windows or for small artworks...

Agree with the banana comment. They tend to love me anyway, but bananas seem to amplify it.

I am very fair skinned and i discovered last year in turkey (*lots of mosquitos*) that if i only had an outdoor rinse at the end of a beach day and not a full soapy lather shower, I did not get bitten anywhere i had applied sunscreen earlier. My theory is that the sunscreen layer masks whatever on my skin attracts the mozzies. I wear coppertone waterbabies factor 50 or 75 for what its worth. Very unscientific and personal discovery, but seems to have held for 2 summers now!

Echoing haileys suggestion, my first thought was to set them up in some kind of bar - get something that suits your style whether its a bookcase, shelving, a sideboard, and group with a few bottles, a vintage cocktail shaker, decanters, whatever floats your boat. Its also practical, when you do fancy a drink, its all in one place..... Check out this makeover - see the shelving in the corner, and the bar on the shelf? One idea of making it fit to this guys style...

A chore chart is a good idea, as is a "leave it as you found it" rule for common shared areas.

Bet those skillets would get cleaned quicker if they were left on the pillow of the person who left them after 24 hours...

but you probably dont want to go down that route. You may feel bound to a lease. Ask your flatmates if they'd let you out if you helped facilitate finding a new roommate (scheduling open house, vetting potential roommates). If they have a different standard then they'd probably be just as happy to not get nagged about doing their dishes anymore....

A nice colourful new sheet/pillow/comforter cover from ikea is a cheap fun way to change up your room. Oh and mattab is right, never delete the numbers (unless your the one doing the drunk dialing) but rename them to "Ignore the idiot", "not him again", "Drama Queen", "useless", etc helps to ease the pain if they call you...put away the things you might value at a future date and take yourself out on a crazy night with the girlies! If you are reading this website, then you probably have a fun house project that you have been meaning to do for ages. DO IT!!!

I just heard a story in my office today of a building my coworker used to work in where it was freezing (people wearing hats and gloves). Turned out the guy in the corner office had put a bookshelf in front of the thermostat so it was measuring the trapped air in the pocket (which was warm) and freeeeeeezing the place with cooling.

I like the order sousani suggests, my first idea if you are otherwise happy with the paint job was that you could play around with sponge or similar effects which would allow you to dip into with complementary colours around the same family. some yellow, some brown, even some gold to link it with the other room....
You could end up with something like this

You can always paint over if it doesnt work...

I remember seeing something on AT years ago where it was a very long narrow hallway and someone suggested painting stripes on it to make it look like a bowling alley. I feel like your hall could benefit from a similar "embrace it". Maybe use decals to play with it (eg the ascent - rising clouds, hot air balloon, birds etc). You could also do something painted on the underside of the steps. I think that could look super...

I think once you put table clothes down here and dim the lights, its going to be a very pretty space. Remember your decor can either come down from above (fairy lights, ribbons, fabric draped from the beams) or rise from the table...balloons anchored in the centerpieces, tall lights, tall floral centerpieces..if its wintertime and you will light the fire in the evening, maybe that could start your 'theme' of warmth and comfort and home together. Whatever you chose should reflect your lives together and the passions you share. Good luck.

Can i move in? pleeeeeeeeaaaase? Slipcover the floral, or just throw a sheet over it for a while to see how it feels and if its worth keeping plain, I love 'conversation areas' with lots of options so i say keep all of em if you can. If not ditch the floral, thank it for the good years!

Modtramp, I think those of use who have bikes as lifestyle welcome any tricks to make them feel like decor, when we arent on them.

My roommate is very tolerant of mine being parked in the middle of the living room most of the summer. It gets semi hidden in the winter behind the couch, but there are too many windows, doors, and odd angled walls in my apartment for any of these hanging solutions as i dont have a single space that is 4' x 6' x 1' that i can hang it on without putting it over the dining table, or over my bed!
