Many of the buildings hallways have been redecorated with more modern furnishings (Watergate East, anyway -- don't know about South or West). Everything does curve so it made re-doing our kitchen a challenge! (I think our remodel is a bit more down-to-earth than this, although I doubt we'd ever get into home & garden) Apartment Therapy DC | Living in The Watergate: Balconies with Potomac River Views |

We are not allowed to hang clothes outdoors in our building...when we renovated the co-op was allowing units that didn't require non-standard voltage, so we went with the LG Tromm washer/dryer combo. We love it, and while the cycles are a bit long, it lives in our bedroom closet and works like a charm (with little additional humidity, although we leave the closet doors open while it's on). We have a summit fridge that fits under the counter. Plenty of space for our needs and we're very happy about it. We have a separate freezer unit (also summit, I believe) that sits next to the fridge, also under counter. They're part of a small kitchen island. It's great--counter space above the units, and extra space elsewhere as we have no tall fridge taking up cupboard/counter space. We used Venetian Glass (Khaki Red Mosaic) from www.mosaicsource.com and have gotten a zillion compliments. It wasn't the cheapest buy, but definitely worth the investment. Our counters are black granite and we have similar color cabinets. We love the finished product. I would definitely recommend! It looks like there's something reflective around the bottom edges...maybe if you dampened the reflection it would be a bit less glaring. Good Questions: How Can I Soften the Light Coming Through the Skylight ? |

I have an LG washer/dryer combo that I love. Set it and forget it! I pop the clothes in before I go to work, come home and if they're still a bit damp (as they tend to be, but doesn't bother me) a 30 minute dry cycle fluffs them up a bit before folding. If you go this route, get the bigger drum. There are two sizes and I think I'd never be finished with the laundry with the smaller capacity. I don't think the footprint is a huge difference between small and larger capacities. Good Questions: Top Small Washer/Dryer Tips? |

I've noticed many hotels in Europe, from the UK to Spain do the same thing with their keys and the light switch. It's a great idea and I'd love to see it in the US... Scandic Sensibility |

I've lived in dorm rooms longer than I've lived in "legitimate" apartments, and I don't think that length of stay was a requirement to enter. This looks really cool and homey and reminds me of when I was in college and my roommate and I spent the summer planning how to set up our dorm room so we could really live there, not just study or sleep. #33 - Tim's Overlapping Spheres |

My boyfriend travels more than he's home, so it's lots of dinners for one here. I have the chance to make things he doesn't like that I do. And I take the leftovers to work for lunch, since there's no microwave to be had in this apartment to heat things up. Poll: Cooking for One |
