I say get a quote for new countertops. You might be surprised at the cost. If you are not fond of the granite that is currently there (which I understand) it is not like painting your cabinets will solve that problem. I could be wrong but painting the walls blue might only serve to accentuate the granite and cause for clashing.
Research your countertop options before jumping full force into painting/staining. Arm yourself will all of the knowledge and options first (I wish I did more of that). I have all too often looked for the cheaper or quicker (sometimes they go hand in hand as well) option only to grow tired of it or see the folly of my ways after some months or years. Good luck!

The scratch has to be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very (have I emphasized this enough) light to work. I have what I would call a medium scratch just off the screen but on the glass for my iPhone and it really didn't do a thing. It did however help an almost imperceptible other scratch that I had to hunt for to test. My thought is that if you are that concerned about a certain scratch on your device, it is probably too deep for this to help.

"Good" design is in the eye of the beholder. I think this is an interesting use and reuse of materials. Speaking as someone who currently has five milk crates stacked in his bedroom due to a re-design of my daughter's soon to be shared bedroom, it was pretty cool to see someone use similar materials in an unconventional and in my opinion, pretty kick ass DIY way. BTW the STOP/WALK light as seen behind the link is equally awesome.

They are a pain in the ass. They can fit through screens and seem to only arrive by the thousand.

For all using plastic liners... you can wash your plastic liners in the washing machine. This was a fairly recent discovery for us, but it works. And works well. The hope is that we will not be in the "replace once a year camp". We will see if that works out in the long term. Fabric on the inside seems problematic, but go with whatever works.

It is good to be reminded every once and awhile that over the centuries women have been raped and murdered with weapons shoved into them.... I suppose. Although that does kind of bum my day out.
