Great article - I've been looking for some interesting reading so I will definitely be checking out some of the recommended books on the subject. It's fascinating to think that some of the basic things we take for granted today were considered luxuries in the past - we really are blessed to live in this day and age (on so many levels).

My daughter is almost 2 1/2 and she still doesn't have a Santa photo - we were at a Christmas luncheon on Sunday where there was a Santa and an opportunity to take free photos, but she didn't want to do it (although all her cousins did) - I didn't force her. The day she decides or feels comfortable taking a photo with Santa, I'll gladly take her though, just don't see the point in making her cry just to have a Santa photo. On the other hand, it wasn't a tradition in my family to have yearly Santa photos, so it's not such a big deal for me.

We usually put up our tree 2 - 2 1/2 weeks before Christmas and leave it until the Epiphany (taking it down on Jan. 7th)- my family is Spanish/Cuban and January 6th is a very important holiday for us :-)

My dog would be really happy with this bed (I had to toss his old one because it was getting pretty nasty) and I would be even happier if he stopped sleeping on my sofa ;-)

too funny - what a trip!! Love her costume. What a great sense of humor - very refreshing!!!!

Actually if you look through the slideshow, you'll see the same view of the kitchen in both before and after shots and there is quite a bit of difference! Just changing the color of the counters and removing the cabinet doors made for a substantial change! Wish I could paint my countertop, but I have tiles :-(

this has become one of my favorite rooms - simply adorable! and I so want that Lundy dollhouse!!

I have the frog (and a rooster) pot holder and they're not so easy to use :-( but they're really cute! They're going to end up being used more as play puppets for my daughter than kitchen duty!
