I recommend painting the large wall opposite the door a deep chocolate brown, then the rest of the room around a 20% gray. Because of the small size of your room I think the darker color may actually help recess the wall - if natural light is an issue in your room, stick to lighter tones.

Stay away from painting bright or accent colors because I think that would take attention away from your stunning view. You can then incorporate color into the room with other accent pieces like artwork on the wall or a hanging light fixture. I highly recommend bringing in a light fixture to bring the eye up and play up on the vertical space you have.

Don't think of this a conceding, but have an honest talk with yourself about what compromise means. Make a list of what's important to your design concept and prioritize them. Ask him to do the same and see where your interests overlap. If design concepts such as "organic" or "minimalist" are too definite, agree first on how you want the room to feel when you enter it.

Pinterest is a good suggestion, and lists have always been helpful to me. Good luck!

I LOVE white furniture and I commend you for your gorgeous pieces. I just can't see that room without a beautiful sapphire/aqua/teal on that wall. If you're apprehensive, just try painting an accent wall and not the entire room that color. Bring in gorgeous greenery indoors and you'll have the most beautiful furniture you never knew you already had!

Cathryn and some others here have hit the nail on the head. Lighting will do WONDERS for the space. Paint, area rugs, and pillows are expectedly great improvements, as are robust indoor plants. A main point I noticed is how low everything is in your photos - furniture, plant, TV, etc. Low can absolutely be minimalist and beautiful but that line that runs across the room just cuts the space in your home seem smaller than it is. Place that TV higher, bring in taller, mature indoor plants that will break up that line. Utilize the high ceilings you love to hang higher window treatments (artwork should generally be eye level). The sky's the limit!

I remember I went to shop for this at IKEA when I moved into my first apartment. It was unrecognizable all folded up so I assumed they were sold out or discontinued it and never picked it up. This is definitely on my list the next time around!

This suggestion is not something I've tried - As a printmaker I get icky ink on some part of my hand or arm from time to time. Aside from alcohol-based solvents, the thing that removes the grime best is GOJO. Again, not something I've tested myself, but maybe worth a try?

In case you're leaning towards gray, be careful about going too blue. If your tiles there are blue, a cool gray will make your bathroom feel even colder. Those little 7oz color samples will be your best friend when testing out the right shade. Don't be afraid to sample a good sized square, and let the color dry completely before making your final decision.

Everyone is saying gray - which is a great choice, but hear me out here. Try BROWN.

I know what you're thinking, the last thing you want to be reminded of in the BR is BM. The key is selecting the right shade of brown. If you stick to something that's more of a dark chocolate (avoid anything with a warm, red tone - like maroon) it can work as a great dominant third color there. I think it can bring a matte finish will bring a real velvety richness into the room.

Dark mahogany has always been a classic masculine tone. Whenever you can incorporate that dark wood as an accessory - it can make your room look much more expensive and sophisticated in a snap!

Ask yourself, "What is it about the 'I want' dresser that I adore?" We've already established that you like the darkness of the wood and silver handles. Is there anything else about the dresser that impresses you?
Its sleek simplicity? The single knob handles? Its uniform drawers? The graceful legs?

Even if you're able to achieve the desired stain, those elements are things you can't change on the dresser you own. If you're thinking of switching out the handles to single knobs, keep in mind that any filler you use to cover the extra holes will probably be visible against the stain.

Whatever you decide, make sure you've accessed all the Pros and Cons. Good luck!

not. definitely not. it's like your giant houseguest took a shower and didn't notice the bandage got steamed off. ew. perhaps the average home isn't the ideal location for a giant novelty bandage rug. imagine its rightful calling on the floors of the nurse's office at MODE magazine.
