I like annegret's idea of a light cinnamon color, or a sunwashed terracotta. Also like the idea of a turquoise door. White trim around door and windows. Should set off your planned rose garden nicely. Not sure what to do with the fence though, a white fence may be too much white and distract from your white roses.

I like it....I can see it in commercial aspects (hotels, nightclubs, casinos)... but for my home...nope. If they could make this technology weatherproof for outdoor furniture, it could be really cool for night time parties on the deck. :-)

Mexican Stuffed Shells. You make it just like Italian Stuffed Shells, but substitute mexican ingredients. Jumbo shells stuffed with taco meat, kernel corn, monterey jack and cheddar, covered in salsa (the same was you would use tomato sauce for Italian stuffed shells), topped with more cheddar and jack, dotted with sliced jalapnos and black olives, and baked 'til bubbly. It's nummy.

I would love to see aqua and white stripes on the floor. Granted, this is not as easy as going with a single color, but what life it would give this space!

Without seeing the rest of the kitchen, it's hard to really make a call on this. If the two fabrics you already have are the only choices, I would go with the flowers. Your stove is white with black insets. There is both white and black in the flowers fabric, so it will carry the color scheme. Plus, the fabric has a retro feel to it, and so does what I can see of your kitchen.

The beautiful chairs you got from you grandmother demand warmth and old style charm. IMO the only way modern will work is if it exudes that warmth, something wood, maybe a bookshelf/lamp combo. I think Art Deco could work in this space as well. A small area rug to define the space would also lend a little charm. Personally, I would go with a rug that has an oriental feel to it, and a lamp a little taller with a full lampshade. Also, the wall color does not compliment these chairs. Do you have a colorful poster you can put on the wall?
