I don't understand....why wouldn't you just get a piece of plexi-glass cut and affixed with that double sided foamy tape? That's what I do, it looks neat and lets some light in despite the ugly A/C. This option looks so ugly. I would at least take a tasteful print, laminate it and use it to cover the aluminum/ghetto look? Simple & Smart: Air Conditioner Installation Tip |

My favorite memory of my intra-neighborhood move in Carroll Gardens was carrying my wee guppy in his bowl 2 blocks to the new place. It was a sloooooow walk to avoid unnecessary water sloshing, and at one point I was crossing the an intersection where there was a police car waiting at the red light watching me and they got on their loud speaker and broadcast "slow and steady...." while I crossed the street. :) The Intra-Neighborhood Move |

I have a Janome which I love because it's arm can be raised for thick furs and fabrics - I make soft sculptures and puppets a lot so that feature was super important. You can also control the speed which is very important. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Best Sewing Machines for Beginners? |

They are called carpet beetles but the the amount of infestation has nothing to do with carpets. I have hardwood floors throughout and always get them through the spring and summer. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: What Are These Bugs? New York |

Yeah, seriously, no dramatic approach is necessary - just vacuum regularly and get the pheromone traps. It will make a big difference already. They are very common in NYC and pretty much everywhere, people just don't know it, I am sure its not just an infestation in your place, don't worry! It's a varied carpet beetle. They come in in the spring and summer and find homes everywhere as they feed on pretty much anything - pet hair, human hair, natural fibers, wood, foods, etc, etc...if you ever find little wormy things (that shed their skin) in your cereals or pastas, corners of closets, etc... its from them, that is their larvae. It's important to keep the apartment super clean, vacuum and dust under and behind furniture and in closets and keep all your foods in airtight containers to try and limit the places for them to go to nest/feed off of. Also, I always invest about $200 in the beginning of the season on these pheromones traps - it absolutely minimizes their survival rate and you will be much happier come winter not to have a gazillion larvae all over in every nook and cranny eating all your stuff. Once you get the traps, you will be AMAZED at how many you collect in them. I have one in every room and they are all pretty much full. I agree with most that a cream colored wall with a darker beige trim would work well with both the painting and the rug...but...I have to tell you honestly that I don't like the painting and the rug together. The rug is much more geometric and more modern and the painting is more poetic and organic. Maybe it's just me, but they don't hum the same tune. The dishes and glasses you use all the time stay clean because they don't stay on the shelf long enough to collect dust, but before I use a bowl or stemware when entertaining, I do a quick cleaning. I also will periodically put dustier items from the shelves in the dishwasher to fill an "almost loaded" run. Apartment Therapy New York | Look!: Even MORE Open Kitchen Shelves from Readers |
