I take that back, light pine would be stellar too.

Really great choice on the wallpaper though. It gave it a ton of architectural interest in one fell swoop. Very professional.

Decorate your fridge! I had a friend spray paint his fridge red. Just take off the handles. It looks great and you can just spray paint it back to white when you move.

Hanging plants, shelves, table runner, clock, mirrors, two more plants, more light sources (floor, tables), coffee table, kitty litter cover (also if there's no basement, personally i would put it in the living room or the bathroom for hygiene).

Yellow spiky dahlias in a clear cylindrical vase ($2 for the vase, $5 for the flowers)

I ended a long term relationship last week and these are making me feel real good in my space even though I have a dozen things on my to-do list. I put them on my stand-in nightstand and I'm looking forward to waking up next to them.

Gah! That marble and stone is gorgeous. I vote to let that play center stage and go with a high quality flat or satin true white or complementary gray.

Buy thin foam padding and sew the foam material to the back of the existing curtains. If you want the curtain look from outside put a tension rod with sheers on the inside.

I would go extremely minimal to accentuate the good bones. Gloss black, chocolate brown, and other neutrals with a pop of a single accent.

This makes me think of that trend piece on hipsters in unheated houses. "It's so cold in here that even my lamps and vases need sweaters!"

It also reminds me of Adolf Loos' "Ornament and Crime".

If you go with chocolate brown, I actually think a white bordered storm door might work since that would match the windows.

I think a sage green would be a little Martha Stewart, but if that's your style -- by all means go for it. It might even work with a swingy MCM vibe.

A deep chocolate brown would make the brick pop in my opinion though.

Another vote for all white! White bedding, true-white walls, minimalist white window treatments. I would go with one or two bright, bold accents like orange and/or yellow, as well as a huge, square canvas (post-1960 inspired) on the bookshelf wall.

Also, personally, I would paint the bed itself a gloss black for that 2001: A Space Odyssey look, but I can see why someone else might not.
