I usually am able to keep clutter-free, until I get really busy. Then the clutter takes over, and I'm so disheartened by the clutter, that I stop putting away things I would usually.

Luckily, it only happens every few months...

I can definitely vouch for the Abeego wraps - they are fantastic! And they smell wonderful, just slightly of beeswax.

I agree with ladibug. I got my first pair of welding gloves for the kitchen. They can be hand washed with soap, then they should be air dried slowly - not near a heat source - then oiled - a leather oil is probably best, but olive oil works fine too. When they need a deep clean, get the dry cleaned.

I love them, now I never worry about holding something hot for too long.

Haven't tried it myself, but you might try throwing some Alka Seltzer tablets in it with some really hot water.

I have a square silicone pot-holder I use if the bowl is small enough - which it usually is. I'm not a huge microwave user.

Well - primal man didn't have TiVo and down comforters either - I guess I'm just a rebel.

No one's perfect, and if I'm cheating, I'd rather cheat with some delicious limoncello or some fresh baked bread than with an over-processed donut or something.

You have to pick your battles.

Thanks everyone! These are great!

The kind of "Primal" I've been following is basically what is laid out at Mark's Daily Apple: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/ Not the raw meat primal. I guess "Hunter/Gatherer" is a better description.

I love bread and carbs, but since I've started it I've felt so much better. I'm not a "dieter," but I could lose a few - mostly from love of cooking. This is more of a lifestyle (no counting calories), where you can just cheat a little on the things that taste best. I've upped my protein (lots of meat, nuts and eggs), cooked with lots of fatty fats (butter, bacon fat, coconut oil), and lost 12 pounds since Christmas.

I highly recommend everyone look into it, just to know what it's all about.

Sue

Thank you!

Here's the "Riccardo's Limoncello" recipe:

This recipe by Riccardo Baracchi was featured in the Frances Mayes' bestseller, In Tuscany.

8 organic lemons
1 quart vodka
14 ounces sugar
1 quart bottled water, brought to a simmer

Peel the lemons, leaving a little white attached to the peel. Reserve the lemons for other uses. Put the peels in a large container together with the vodka, close it well, and leave it in a cool place for at least 4 days, preferably a week. Gently shake a couple times a day. The peels will lose their brilliant yellow color.

On the fifth day or later, prepare a syrup of the sugar and hot water, making sure the syrup never quite boils. Stir and simmer 5 minutes, then after the sugar has dissolved, allow the syrup to cool. Strain the lemon-scented alcohol through cheesecloth or a strainer, discard the lemon peels, and mix the alcohol into the syrup. Shake well before bottling. Let the limoncello sit for 2 to 3 days. Serve cold as an apertif. Makes 2 quarts.

This is a copycat recipe of Don Pablo's corncake that I like - it's a little sweet, but a great side dish for tacos or chili.

Don Pablo's Corn Cake Recipe

1/2 cup softened butter (do not substitute)
1/3 cup corn flour
1/4 cup water
1 10oz can creamed corn
1/8 cup corn meal
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp heavy whipping cream (I use regular milk)
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder

In a medium bowl beat butter until creamy. Add corn flour and water and beat until well mixed. Stir in corn.

In a separate bowl, mix cornmeal, sugar cream, salt and baking powder. Add to corn mixture and stir to combine. Pour batter into an ungreased 8x8 pan. Cover tightly with aluminum foil. Place pan into a 9 x 13 baking pan that is filled 1/3 with hot water.

Bake at 350 (175C) for 50 - 60 minutes. Allow to cool 10 minutes. Use an ice cream scoop to remove. Server warm.

NOTE: The secret to getting it creamy like Don Pablo's is the steaming so it is important to bake it covered and inside a pan of water.
