another voice - I too learned to touch type at an early age - I think it was grade 8. We had big old manual Underwood typewriters with blank keys. The chart with the letters was at the front of the room. Most useful course I ever took, bar none - it has served me well going on nearly 50 years now. I can't imagine having to type a paper by the hunt & peck method.

With apologies to Garrison Keillor - the news from Lake Woebegone does it for me

no top sheet - just a duvet cover which gets changed regularly along with the fitted bottom sheet & pillowcases. Making the bed takes seconds. When it is really hot, I sleep on top of the duvet with a thin cotton blanket as cover - just a quick smooth out, pillow fluff, and folding the blanket in the morning.

Funny - I too like orange more as I get older (60 something now) - just bought an orange laptop case last year - but I'm still hanging on to whitish walls - the better to display a wide variety of artwork, I think.

lovely -
I too got married at home, many years ago. In my case it was my parents' home. But you revived a long forgotten memory. Our wedding was a shoestring affair, but I did have a bouquet made. The florist used tulips instead of the daffodils I had requested. Bridal trauma, of course. The flowers were remade with daffodils - and sat quietly on the buffet during the wedding as I totally forgot to hold them at the appropriate moments.

Are the green and orange chairs inspired by the womb chair or is it the other way around?

Does anyone know of a good place to get Creuset cookware re-enamelled? Is it even worth doing? My old dutch oven has a large chip in the bottom.

Thanks!

No one has mentioned the books - to me a place just isn't home until the books have been unpacked and shelved. Lovely place - and place for books.....

I work from home and my office is in a corner of my living space. I have recently found a gizmo to help get wires off my desk and into the corner where the modem & switch live. This is a USB server (mine is from Startech and I paid $59 Canadian) to which I have connected my scanner, label printer and b&w printer. This little box connects to my network switch and, using the included software, the peripherals, which used to have to be connected directly to my laptop, are now connected through the network and OFF MY DESK! Only one minor inconvenience, when I undock the laptop and go elsewhere, I have to reconnect the peripherals when I redock. Takes about 1 minute and is no big deal.

I've been using the various coloured tennis balls available from Staples (Bureau en Gros here in Montreal). They're cute and work well, but I really like the socks idea - can be substantially classier than tennis balls.
