@yuving, I didn't mean to sound harsh, I really do think you've done a great job on the place. It makes me want to go on vacation.

I love this place, but the pictures and the write up read like a real estate listing.

Another tip: If you live near a college, do not go to IKEA at the beginning of the semester, or any time that parents might be visiting en masse.

I live close to an IKEA, but I have bailed on a trip or two because I get so so frustrated by the slow-moving crowds blocking the paths. I know I am sometimes part of the slow-moving crowd. There should be an express lane for when you want to get in, look at the quality (ha!) of a product and move on.

I have a Murphy bed and do not use a box spring. My mother insisted I would be crippled by back pain, but I've never noticed a difference.

My home is not dry, but I never seem to have wine on hand when I need it for cooking. Having this in the pantry, rather than a bottle spoiling on my counter top sounds fantastic!

I have had two glass dishes break in the last few months - one in the oven and one in the dishwasher. Luckily, both split rather than shattered. I thought it was because I was storing them stacked and creating some sort of weird pressure point that weakened them.

Last Thanksgiving my mother handed me what she thought was a Pyrex bowl for me to pour hot drippings in for the gravy. I don't know if it was Pyrex or not, because it shattered all over the stovetop and the floor. This was about an hour before the company arrived and really threw everything into chaos - several dishes had to be started again. Luckily, one year my mother didn't turn on the oven to cook the turkey, so a shattered bowl can't even rank as the worst Thanksgiving disaster ever. ;)

I try to get three servings of dairy a day, not necessarily through milk, but with yogurt, cheese and skim milk because I am terrified of not getting enough calcium.

Have I just been brainwashed by the dairy industry? If I ignore this am I going to get osteoporosis?

I know that other foods have some calcium, but my dairy just gives me a sense of security that I have gotten all I need. Eating should not be this hard.

It might be a generic tourist stop, but I thought Topkapi Palace was stunning. I came back with a million photos of the mosaics.

I also enjoyed the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art which is near the Blue Mosque. It is housed in a 16th century palace.

Istanbul is gorgeous and you will enjoy it - even if you don't make it to all the MUST see places.

I have Home Comforts by Cheryl Mendelson, though I didn't realize she had another book just on laundry.

I like knowing how I *should* do it before deciding how I am *actually* going to do it.

If you are new to backpacking, pack all your gear in the bag, strap it on and walk around your neighborhood for a few hours. It looks a bit silly, but it really changes how you feel about items on your "must take" list.

Ha!
I love this house, but as I scrolled through the pictures, I kept thinking "Why is there no Michael Vartan??!"

Beautiful house, beautiful man. Great work. (Bad movie.)

To me, "outie" seems so obvious that I am shocked this is even a question. People really put the open ends of the pillowcase pointing at each other?

I've never been able to get excited by the over/under toilet paper debate, but maybe I have found my equivalent.

I like the shower/bath separate from the toilet, but I prefer the sink and toilet to be in close proximity for handwashing purposes.

I know that some people are very anti-murphy bed, but after five years in my studio I took the plunge. It feels like a brand new place.

Now, I am working on rearranging my furniture to get it out from the walls a bit. Thanks for the tips!
