West Philly is no worse than any other part of any city. I've been in WPHL for 16 years and love the trolleys, trees, gardens, parks, bars/restaurants and walkability (I walk to work even). I've got a 6 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom house built in 1888 with two staircases. I bought it in 2006 and was living in a mansion with servants' quarters before that. I must say... It's great roasted or even just nuked then added to a Thai curry. I also make a pizza with puree, and make a pizza with olive oil on the dough, then the puree, some sauteed shrooms and onions, then cheese, pine nuts, then fresh rosemary after it's out of the oven. Di Bruno's in Philly makes their own, and I had the pleasure of having two palm-sized pillows of it over toasted ciabatta with pesto, balsamic, chocolate cherry tomatoes and micro basil. Booyeah.
