Oh I am so confused by #4 and #5. Were they paid placements? Did someone threaten you if you couldn't come up with a list-of-5? I don't see the LG washer-dryer on this list, which I have and LOVE. It is ventless (helpful in a log cabin when you can't just cut hole in outer walls for ducting) and it is just great to put in a load of clothes in the morning and come back to clean-and-dry clothes later in the day. 5 Great Integrated Washer Dryers | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |

@ddk, I have a black stove and it is foul -- it shows every spot and blob of grease. Most black stoves have that plastic-y control panel and it is the worst of all (and easily scratched to boot). How To Clean the Stove Naturally: A Tip | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

Along the lines of the brownies, I've made Earl Grey truffles that were amazing: the secret ingredient is 4-8 drops of bergamot essential oil in the ganache. (Technically it's not foodsafe, but a few drops is fine. It's not poison.) I would imagine you could add a few drops of oil to any cake or cookie recipe. I've made tea-steeped recipes as well but they just don't have the same punch. Do You Know of a Recipe for Earl Grey Cake? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

My juicer (which I love -- $99 Breville @ amazon) came with a little book of recipes including pulp-use ideas. The ones that sounded most appealing were things like mixing carrot pulp in with pancake batter. However! The pulp (in mine, at least) doesn't taste like ANYTHING! My beef (ha!) with this book is that it's not nearly as "home cooking" as Keller likes to present -- my husband and I laughed and laughed at the recipe for chicken stock that calls for carrots cut into 1-inch cubes. IT'S STOCK! The carrots get thrown out at the end! Who cares if they are perfect cubes? Ad Hoc at Home by Thomas Keller Book Review 2009 | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I always like fresh fruit things with mexican food. Blend together some mint and some sugar, then sprinkle over pineapple (or fruit salad, or whatever). Tres leches is really tasty as well, though not as easy-peasy as fruit. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Good Question: What Dessert Goes with Mexican Food? |

For really liquidy batters (crepe, popover, dutch pancake), I've had good luck skipping the resting step and using my immersion blender to do the mixing. I'm pretty sure I got that idea from an old Fine Cooking, and it works well (and is great for those of us with no cooking forethought, or patience). I used those exact cherries to make a tasty cherry-apple pie! I drained the juice, cooked it down a bit, then mixed it with cornstarch and stirred it into the sliced apples and cherries. Yums. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Good Question: What Can I Do With Morello Cherries? |

I love that veggie stuff because it's a nice *dark* broth. Lots of veg stock is light like chicken stock, but theirs is dark and rich like beef. And their meat stocks are, consistently, the only ones in the store where the first ingredient is meat (as opposed to salt). I have some mats very similar to those tiki ones and they are *terrible*! Sure, they're pretty when there's an empty place setting on them, but if you spill some spaghetti off your plate, you get the placemat all dirty (and that's a hard shape to clean) and it goes right through onto the table as well. I much prefer my generic cotton rectangles. Apartment Therapy New York | Dressing the Table: 10 Best Placemats |

I have not used that exact kit (mine was similar but a different brand) and ... well, it doesn't suck as bad as it could have. It's not great. But it's a year later and the tub is not flaking horribly or peeling or whatever. But it is flaking a little bit, and anytime I try to do any real elbow-grease scrubbing I create a new flaky spot. I think that stuff is ideal for coating your tub just before you try to sell the house... :) Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: DIY Tub Refinishing? |

I always just buy carpet pad at Home Depot/Lowe's. They sell it off those giant rolls, and it's not very expensive -- I think you can get 8X10 of "the good stuff" for less than $40. (Also you can cut it and tape it together with duct tape to make the exact shape you need.) Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Inexpensive Rug Pad? |

Does the neck really even count as giblet? It's not offal, it's just like leg or wing (admittedly harder to eat). Perfect for stock, and I have seen a sausage recipe that calls for the ground meat to be stuffed into an intact goose or turkey neck. I have a love for that stuff from my days in a professional kitchen, but it kind of creeps me out. I use it anyway, because one box lasts forever and I like the pre-cut sheets. (Also I have a hard time getting rolled parchment to stay flat.) I do find that it doesn't last as long as the thicker (more expensive) sheets from somewhere like King Arthur; you can use the nice stuff 4 or 5 times before it gets all crispy and weird.
