"Modern": Highly subjective. If you are moving from a 1930s home which was never renovated, you might consider the 1980s apartment somewhat modern, but I'm finding that modern rarely refers to anything in the 2000s. Perhaps that's post-modern.

The shot glass to appetizer ratio have to be just right, so the app could fit in the glass and hopefully reach some of that dip at the bottom?

Hash is great for the night before. If I make corned beef or sweet potato hash I usually serve with poached eggs the next day.

Muffins or any baking can definitely take place ahead of time.

I'd get the #1 sister award if I saved my sister thousands of dollars a year on the insanely expensive coffee she buys every day from a chain which rhymes with charred ducks and gifted her this amazing device.

I love salmon croquettes with grits for breakfast. I call it my back of the cabinet breakfast because I've usually made my way to the back of the cabinet if I'm pulling out canned salmon. I use a recipe for crab cakes and just sub the salmon for the crab. Good luck.

I'd jump on the chocolate and bacon trend and add some bacon crumbles and maybe some sweet scallops with a little chili pepper infused olive oil.

I would add paper towels, rags, or something to dust with. I find that it's easier to make sure everything is clean before all your stuff is moved in and you have to work around it to dust every inch of the place.

Also maybe a fan if you are moving in the summer.

I've seen three homes being relocated in my lifetime, one of them being the one in the second picture. It is a historical house in Northampton, MA. I remember seeing some restoration efforts previous to the relocation. Maybe they were preparing the structure for the move. Another home right down the street from me was moved. I believe it was purchased from a nearby college and relocated somewhere around campus. It's so interesting to watch all the people gathered around, hoping that the house makes it to it's new land.

My mother and my maternal grandmother weren't fabulous cooks, but they got dinner on the table. My mother remarried when I was six and I remember instantly being pulled into the craze of my step-grandmother's (Gram's) kitchen. If you weren't chopping, stirring, grating or washing, you were drying and putting away. There was always a job for someone to do, and it was a huge family. On Saturday nights I would sleep over her house so I could cater to her friends during their weekly card games. I'd make them nachos and mini pizza's and make sure they had ice tea and anything else they wanted. In the morning before breakfast I'd be sitting in the kitchen with a big pot of green beans, popping the ends off in preparation for Sunday dinner. After church my cousins and I would race to her house hoping we would get the favorite chore, grating the cheese for the macaroni and cheese. Everyone loved to grate because you could pop a chunk of cheese in your mouth here and there. My Gram cooked for everyone and everyone was always welcome. On Sundays we ate like it was Thanksgiving and she was never afraid to try out something new. I was there when she attempted new dishes and even when she was bottling her home made Kahlua. She taught me that I shouldn't be afraid to experiment in the kitchen, but if I made something great, I shouldn't be afraid to serve it again and again. Gram passed her love for cooking on to me and I share it with anyone who sits at my table.

I love Sandi's room and what's even crazier is that I have a similar color scheme in my living room and I incorporated the exact Pier 1 pillows into my orange and green mix. I've had this design for about three years and it's great to see that I wasn't totally off the mark with my own color choices. Bravo!

@endbegin I'm reading the book now and I seem to remember it saying that she paid extra for the delivery people to assemble everything.

I actually found this section kind of amusing, since I recognized the lack tables and other pieces as the same things I purchased for my first apartment. Of course I only had about $250 to spend at the time, and I was delighted with how far my dollars stretched.
