ktoth04- At our local sushi restaurant I always ask them to substitute a soy wrap for the seaweed and it holds together very well. I've seen the soy wraps on sale at asian grocery stores and even a well-stocked deli!

Don't stay more than 30 minutes and bring food!

We had a couple with kids that visited us after our first baby was born and she stayed a short amount of time and brought a grocery bag full of easy to eat and prepare stuff (roasted veggies from the deli counter, a rotisserie chicken, and chocolate covered pretzels!). That was the most memorable gift we received in those early weeks.

I would suggest calling after a few days and asking if you can bring by some food and visit for a very short time. Then call as you are heading over, so mom can attempt to brush her teeth and put on a clean shirt!

My mom always used something called "Terro" ant killer. I am certain it isn't green, but I cannot abide ants and would do anything to get rid of them. I used this several months ago when we had an infestation in the kitchen. You drip some of the poison onto little pieces of cardboard and hide them around where the ants are, they take the poison back to the nest and take out the whole colony. The trick of it is that they actually increase at first (yuck!) and then all go away: for good. I have to say that I was surprised at how thoroughly it worked. As for the spiders, we still haven't found a way to eliminate them. Good Luck!

I had a home birth six months ago and my midwife loaned me her birthing stool. Eventhough I didn't use it, it is nice to plan for all eventualities and it was handy for extra seating (for others that is). I actually think it is a good idea to make a birth plan, knowing full well that it is like any plan...amended by reality. There are many ways to approach birth and some people really benefit from making a birth plan, which helps them to think about, prepare for, and envision their birth experience. One thing to consider about birthing stools is that squatting tends to put pressure on your perineum, not great if you have a fast labor and a big baby...

I have used the Avent pump pictured above through two children. I like the portablility. I never liked being hooked up to the electric pump in style, felt a little too bovine for me :)
I had good results with had pumping and never got a sore hand.
