I went through this when our nephew visited. The only thing I bought (small apt, not a lot of room for more stuff) was a suction non-slip kid's tub mat. We did either (a) shower with him or (b) plugged up the bathtub combined with using a bucket to pour some (clean/fresh) warm water over him.

I thought the re-do in a recent NYTimes article was fantastic. Its exactly around the client's need to show her large photography collection, and the designer's solution - via staircase wall: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/23/garden/23cheap.html?_r=1&ref=garden

I'm definitely trying this. I have some frozen peaches at home that I've been wondering what special thing to do with!

1. If I make these ahead of time, how long will they keep in the freezer? do I freeze them before they cook (like wontons), or after?

2. Any recommended shortcuts? Like, cut I just use freezer philo dough if I was in a hurry? (I know, ppl love to hate freezer dough)

I loved fried eggs (w/ soft yolks) over fried rice.
in the summer, my mom makes a lighter version - its like fried rice deconstructed, w/ no frying:
- rice, cooked w/ bean sprouts, served w/ runny fried egg on top.
- on the table, she lays out pickled veggies, shredded cucumbers (nice, fresh crunch), korean bulgogi -but any meat, even just simply seasoned ground beef would do, kimchi, shredded red leaf lettuce, etc. People add to their rice/sprout/egg bowl what they want from teh table, mix it up, and eat!

per SoSue, in nyc you can freeze your food scraps until you can drop them off at various community bins. Union Square farmer's market has one, managed by Lower East Side Ecology Center.
