Somehow they managed to nail being cozy and playful without getting cloying or precious. I would love to stay here. Amsterdam Style: Life at the Lloyd Hotel |

I can see some connection between my closet and my home, but it's probably more driven by principles than aesthetics. For example, I think a lot about "price per wear," so I'll spend more on a winter coat or a pair of boots that will last many years. Because I know they need to be enduring in terms of style, those items are likely to be classic. Finding Home Design Inspiration in Your Closet |

The problem with the update-your-kitchen-to-sell-your-house notion is that it has resulted in scads of houses with hideous "updated" kitchens that look like ripped directly from a display at Lowe's. I'm all for a kitchen that isn't dirty, broken, or otherwise blatantly falling apart, but I'd rather have an outdated kitchen I could redo myself, according to my own taste and within my own budget, then a brand-new kitchen that I don't even like built into the asking price of the house. 5 Remodel Projects with the Highest Return on Investment Angie's List Magazine |

I can't get enough of this place. So cozy, warm, homey. You can really see the personalities of the people who live here. Rochelle & Rob's Country Cottage House Tour |

Overall I love the feel of this place. It is well thought out and seems to reflect the personality of the occupant. I was initially tempted to hate on the mini-golf green color of the living room rug, but I suspect it looks better IRL then it does in the photograph here. This is really nice. Lots of limitations but lots of inventive (but not wacky) solutions. Well done. Small Cool 2010: Beth's Lofted Studio Tiny Division # 9 | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I'm having trouble focusing on the furnishings. That may be the least flattering lighting I've ever seen. The lamps are all crouched beneath the chairs like squirrels. I don't get it. Small Cool 2010: Craig's Homage to Mid Century Modern Tiny Division #10 | Apartment Therapy New York |

I stick with unscented candles and get fragrance from those home fragrance diffusers (with the reeds stuck in a glass bottle of perfumed oil). You can get very nice versions from Target for $10-15. They last much longer than candles and often smell better. Best Candle, for Looks, Price and Scent? Survey | Apartment Therapy DC |

This is a beautiful looking job. I'm bewildered, though, by the decision to hang the headboard above the line where the mattress hits the wall. I think that gap looks awkward. Lowering the headboard 4-5 inches would make it look so much better (and would conceal the DIY-ness of it, I think). Flickr Find: Leslie's DIY Tufted Headboard | Apartment Therapy DC |

Buying a chair to cover your exposed thong is like buying a house to cover your naked body. If one is having problems with an exposed thong, one might consider their pants choice prior to investing in new chairs. Canteen Utility Chair by Klauser and Carpenter | Apartment Therapy New York |

I really like the warm feeling of bedroom #6. But I just can't imagine having a china ball hanging so low over the bed. I would find it oppressive. Same with the heavy chandelier hanging over the bed in the last bedroom - isn't it bad feng shui to have something large hovering over the bed? Just doesn't seem restful to me. 10 Beautiful Bedrooms | Apartment Therapy New York |
