Agreed, Annie-O.

Interesting discussion. How differently we all do things (even the most mundane of things) always fascinates me.

We're a family of three (myself, my spouse, and our nearly 2-year-old son) and I wish I could say I have a laundry system/schedule, but I don't. I do pretty much all of our laundry in sorted loads, but I only sort as I'm putting a load in (meaning I dig out all of the whites to do a load of whites). On average I do about five loads of laundry a week, one per weekday if I've got my act together. I wash sheets and towels once per week usually. Ironing sheets? Ain't nobody got time for that.

Charming! Particularly the nursery. I'm completely fine with a mix of Ikea and other higher-end or thrifted/gifted pieces. Give them a break, sheesh, they are a young couple. My own home has such a mix and probably will for a while yet (young family, as well). And, as someone previously mentioned, the flat came partially furnished. Ikea isn't the worst thing in the world. Actually it's pretty awesome. So there.

Wonderful list. I had a book themed baby shower which was a fantastic way to start my little guy's library. I received many classics and a few fun books that were unknown to me. He's still in board book phase (books are still sometimes chew toys as well as things to read), but he loves being read to. His current favorites are Good Night, Gorilla and I Am a Bunny, both of which have darling illustrations.

@Mschatelaine, I'm curious where you got the impression that the works of Lucy Maud Montgomery are unfamiliar to Americans?! I assure you, this is not the case at all. I, my sisters, and all of our friends grew up with her books. We were pretty obsessed with them. (Still are!) :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you and little Charlotte. You're both in my prayers.

What a gorgeous room. The love and care you took putting it together really shows. The blue paint was worth the effort!
