There's so much beautiful original furniture out there, the images of homes filled with "Classic Designs" (Eames, Eames and Eames) is unsettling. It's great that non-designers care about design, at it's not their fault when magazines like Dwell and sites such as AT features homes with the same Eames chairs, over and over again. This is their inspiration.

As for reproductions, I think they're ok. Quality isn't the same and psychologically, knowing it's a knock off brings on guilt and a loss of confidence.

It's always about the source of the problem, which are the bugs. Can the windows be treated to repel them?

Same here, I was so excited, thought it was over the counter stuff and then saw the welding equipment. Excitement deflated.

Where do you live? If you go to the town of Hudson NY, about 2 hours north of NYC, they have AMAZING finds like these. Antique farm looking consoles and cabinets for less than $500 a piece. There's a bunch of shops that line the main street. Hudson got hit hard with real estate crash so demand has gone down which keeps the prices low. Good luck.

There should be more of this process. Would possibly help increase home sales if homeowner could be part of the building process. It's a win win for all, the developer would have a down payment and a buyer, the homeowner would have a customized home for less, and the contractors would have many nightmares!

Wonderful, the colors and form work well. The white walls give it a nice balance.

Flea markets are great finds. If you're in NYC, the Brooklyn Flea has great finds at reasonable prices. Saw this affordable little piece at Anthropologie's sister company. Not too shabby for $150.

which personally, I actually do like the cushion for the space it is in. I always liked the chair, just thought it lacked the softness to balance my space. This is a clever solution and like how the cushion "floats".

The deal with the Gossip Girl posts are there are interesting things happening in terms of set design and look at all the comments next to the topics. As you can see, they generate more comments = more loyal readers. Gossip Girl actually has a great stylist team; fashion and architecture. They get some of their clothing from Bird in Brooklyn. I agree with Randy, its more interesting to have furniture intervention.

I agree with Jeffery. I've always worked hard for my money but whats wrong with trust fund babies? If you have the money, why not? Isn't it equally pretentious/elitist to judge someone you don't know? We are bombarded with bad news everywhere and you think you can come to a blog like this for a breath of fresh air and some constructive criticism. Sheesh, so much anger, I wonder what you are missing in your own lives.

I love all the rooms except the paint drip bathroom. I suspect people close to him would understand the motive. Love all the colors in the rest of the rooms and does offer a breath of fresh air to balance the minimalist coverage. Nice post AT.

I bought the 15 gallon 3 years ago at Overstock for $40. I just checked and they are out. I love it and I've had more than a few moments where people had no idea it was a trash bin. Can't go wrong.

Glad you had a good experience because I will never go these guys again. The sales people know nothing about what they are selling, speak horrible english and the showrooms feel like a car dealership.
Second of all, they told me the sofa would arrive in 10-12 weeks and actually arrived in 14 weeks and the quality was horrendous. One part of the sofa was good, the other half wasn't stuffed correctly so it looked saggy, with too much extra fabric. Contacted customer service and ignore all calls. They asked for pics and then ruled there was nothing they could do.

I was pissed after paying over $1500 to receive a defective product. I believe in principles and Bo has proven themselves as a company with little or no principle like DWR and Room and Board. Complete nightmare.

In response to posted by sarahrice:

Would you rather he support a big box retailer? This isn't about blatant excess but is about appreciating and supporting the artist/craftsman behind the craft.

He gives so much of his money, but more importantly, his time. He is allowed to enjoy a lifestyle he can afford. Shame on you all for judging someone you know so little about and sharing in the hypocrisy you all are guilty of. When was the last time any of you donated your time and money? Hats off if you have.

Um...as opposed to professional furniture buying? I don't get it. Anyway...

I saw the table at the MoMA's permanent collection. The craft and the ability to create such a piece is quite amazing.

Would it make you happier if he shopped at Ikea? Ethan Allen? The world will never be happy.

Nice space. If I'm not mistaken, thats the Bianchi Celeste Green colored bike. I love that color and wonder if the wall complimented or contrasted the bike, if it would make the green pop more.
