I grew up in South Florida, so Christmas was always a bit different. I longed for snow and as a child held out hope it might get cold enough and snow if I really believed. My family would go to my Grandma's house on Christmas Eve for dinner. After dinner we would play the Yankee Swap. Then we would sing Happy Birthday Jesus to a birthday cake. Growing up I thought everyone did this and was shocked as I got older to find out it was only my family. After we got home from Grandma's my sister and I would exchange the gifts we were giving each other.

Christmas Morning we would wake up. There would be triple the presents under the tree than from the night before. I'd have to wait until my parents were settled and the video camera was set up. Then me (the youngest) started to pass out the gifts. Sometimes we'd have to skip turns if one person had more presents than others. My mom would give clues as to which gifts to hand out first, so we could save the BTI (big ticket item) for last as the big surprise. We opened gifts one at a time, and usually would have to look into the camera and show what we got. That was fine as a child, but at 13 when the awkwardness has kicked in it's a bit uncomfortable. After the presents we would clean up and then open our stockings, me and my sister both at the same time. There would be bowls of candy everywhere and we would snack on that until breakfast was ready an hour later. After Breakfast we would head to the movies and then to the beach for Frisbee. Then we'd come back and have Christmas Dinner and leftover Jesus Birthday Cake to finish the night.
