These are hemmed.

Agree that the curtains themselves would look better lined but I wanted a little light coming in from behind the fabric (and I didn't want to double my work) so this works for me.

LOVE IT! You really feel like you know something about the person who lives here by looking at every corner.

The parquet in that room had a lot of water damage and couldn't be saved in total but we did reuse the wood that couldn't be saved in repairing the floor elsewhere in the house.

The garland tile was great but that bathroom was in terrible shape and it was cemented to the wall. We did spend hours prying each tile off to save it but not enough of the garlands were able to be reused. We did reuse the original subway tile in the backsplash of the kitchen.

Overall, we reused as much as we possibly could. Not only because we wanted to keep in in the house but also because it was one less thing we had to purchase.

Makainyc: I don't recall the manufacturer but we purchased the tiles at classic tile in bklyn. The wall tile was really cheap - the decorative end piece is called Victorian rail. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the mention!

For those that are worried about the claw foot, we did save it - its in the parlor floor bathrooom. You can see the rest of my house on the blog.

Thanks Vividiti - The hall tree and fireplace tiles are original to the house. Happy to share any of the bathroom sources - just let me know what you are looking specifically.

SeeAnemones - I really love the Silver Fox. But I did want a fairly rich gray color so I don't see as dingy as some might. I like that it adds a little bit of drama even though I haven't added loads of other colors to it. Our living room faces North so we don't get a lot of light in there. The colors in my hallways are Abalone and while it works fine, Im very glad I didn't go with that for the living room. Its very light and a tiny bit lavender in some times of day.

Pinello - Thanks. I did a post about how I did the gallery wall in this room. Take a look: http://www.brooklynlimestone.com/2010/01/gallery-wall-tutorial.html

It was way easier than I thought it was going to be.

Yes, those rooms are both in Silver Marlin. Looks gray on the chip but has a distinctive blue/green tint when on the wall. At least in these room that get northern light.

amisdottir: No, this was always a 2 family. We just switched it from a lower duplex with 3rd floor apartment to a upper duplex with garden floor apartment. (Apartment not shown in the tour)

libbysal: The prints are oldies that I had hanging in my own room as a child. I mean to have them reframed eventually but they do the job for now.

The wallpaper is from Graham & Brown. Ordered a single roll online.

Thanks very much for the lovely comments from most of you.

Pixel&Grain: Al was our architect and he did a great job and I have recommended him to others who need the same kind of limited services we did. But it should be noted that he did not pick any of our finishes or colors, etc. Im sure he would be happy to confirm that I had a quite good idea of what I wanted there.

This place is like crack to me. I'm totally addicted. Wish I could find more like it.

Thanks so much for the kind words! (Was a bit afraid to read the comments fearing the worst kind of snark but you've been really nice so I really appreciate that.) As someone already mentioned - you can find loads more photos of my house before and afters on my blog. Still a work in progress of course.

To answer your questions:

mschatelaine : No plans to move. I can't imagine putting so much work into a place to just pack up and start over.

a1katie: The pendants in the kitchen are made by Hinkley Lighting. We got them online.

pinknest: The kitchen counters are soapstone (black venata to be exact)

klt108: Yes, they are Lyon stools that I spray painted that color. I have the rubber feet with steel gliders and they prevent me from destorying the floor. I know there are other
types but this one seems to work well for indoor use.

annarama: Yes, we took a wall down in our current kitchen. There is a header that supports the ceiling and defines the space a bit. (Originally that area was a bedroom and the kitchen was on a different floor.)

The color in the guest bedroom is Benjamin Moore Saybrook Sage.

While I agree that a TV is not a worthy addition to home decor, this is a practical choice as I actually enjoy watching tv every single day. Hiding it in place wouldn't work and moving it to a less ideal watching location wasn't a logic choice. As soon as they come out with tvs as thin as wallpaper, I'll be looking into it.

I do agree that the end table in the guest bedroom (the one you see in the photo above, my own bedroom is still a work in progress) is a too small but its what I had laying around. I might change it eventually if I find just the right thing.
