Anyone have a list of fun activities you can do with kids for each of the days, rather than give gifts?

Whatever you do, don't install drawer locks that require screws.

We had the Malm in my daughter's nursery and I had drilled holes in it to put in handles. For months, we couldn't figure out why the room had a weird smell since we knew we had used zero-VOC paint on the walls.

We finally deduced that it had to do with the fact that I drilled into the drawers and released the icky formaldehyde that binds the MDF in the dresser.

Some Googling revealed that others have had this same issue. We wound up getting rid of the Malm completely as a result. And I don't think there will be much MDF furniture for us going forward...we had no idea that this stuff has formaldehyde?

I think you need to hang it up on the wall to make sure it doesn't fall over, but otherwise I don't think it would scare the baby.

Hi Everyone - Thanks for all your comments!

I agree that the bookcase wall looks kinda bare. As blueroom commented, I'm waiting to find something perfect to put there - either a grouping of small prints or a large piece of art. I think it looks less bare in person because it's the wall that has the door on it so when you walk in, you take in all the other more styled areas first. I thought long and hard about whether to paint the other walls a matching yellow and ultimately decided against it because I really wanted the wallpaper to stand out.

Yes, lcg, the fabric on the lamp is the same as the back of the bookcase.

The rug is from Anthropologie.

Goudakat- I made the prints myself. I bought some silver damask-type scrapbook paper for the background and various bright, patterned paper for the animals. Found some silhouette clipart online, enlarged it to the size I needed and cut out the patterned paper along the lines of the silhouettes. Then clued it on and put it in some inexpensive IKEA frames.

Hi Jen - I bought the lamp at HomeGoods a few years ago, but spiced up the lampshade by covering it with fabric and craft glue.

Where did you buy the rocking chair?

We got our chair from a local baby store. The brand is bestchairs.com. You can look up a local retailer. They look better in person than on the site and they have a ton of great, modern fabrics to choose from.

I don't know what i would do without my chair every day and my son is 17 months old.
