Replace the gravel with grass, right up to the concrete. Varigated hosta looks cool and lush and modern and would look good against the side of the building. How about some dwarf lemon trees in planters for the large concrete area? You can bring them inside for winter. Designing a Poolscape: Where To Start? | Apartment Therapy Boston |

In Germany you pay a yearly/quarterly fee to use the library. They are not free, something we take for granted in the U.S. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | The Community Bookcase |

We have German comforters for our king bed. They are a little narrower than twin bed ones. The key to a neat bed is that you don't use sheets at all. To make the bed, take each duvet and place each one perpendicularly to the bed and fold into thirds or in half and place on proper side of bed. Google image German or Swiss hotel rooms to see how it looks. Very neat. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | When Couples Don't Sleep Well Together... |

I sprinkle freshly toasted wheat germ on banana pancakes before flipping them over. Because it's not mixed into the batter it gets crispy and has a nice nutty flavor that compliments the bananas. Grinding and toasting wheat bran may be just as nice. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Learning To Love Wheat Bran |

I use my old one as a dedicated bread baker- I use parchment paper with it anyway, and don't have to worry about it cracking under high heat because it is a back-up. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What to Do With... An Old Dutch Oven? |

Cook/keep warm something simple in the crock pot. Butternut squash soup, black bean soup or chili. For hot sandwiches try Italian beef, bbq pork, meatballs and sauce, or my favorite: kalua pig with cabbage in the crock pot and jasmine rice kept warm in a rice cooker. Insanely simple and insanely good. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Good Question: Quick Antipasti for Houseguests? |

I have lived out of a suitcase for 6-months-plus six different times. It's refreshing and liberating to know that's all you really need. There is no anxiety anymore in throwing toiletries, clothes, camera and a novel in my bag and calling it my life for a while. However, its nice to have things of your own, and when I returned I was happy to see my cookbook collection and my favorite sheets and grandma's apple butters sitting on the shelf.
