I have almost all the Toca apps for my 3 year old son and he LOVES them. The hairdressing one he giggles at when he uses the hairdryer!

It's amazing what awesome apps are out there for kids.

Yea the voting is SUCH a short time - it should be open for a week. Maybe if 3-5 entries are posted on a Monday, left to vote all week and then after x amount of weeks, the week winners are put up against each other and so on until it's down the finals. It just seems that the one entry randomly posted just doesn't catch everyone, whereas a week long voting session would likely find ALL your readers, not just those who happen to check on a specific day.

Congrats to all who won - and to everyone, thanks for sharing!

When I read the title of this article, I thought that the scandalous remark was due to the provocative position of the frog - and that this was a question of is it TOO creepy? hahaha
(For the record, yes, yes it IS creepy. I'm all for the gingerbread guy though.)

I'm all for people getting things any way they can that is legal and ethical. I'd much rather they spent $10 on something I love secondhand than spend $500 on something brand new that I don't care about. It's not about how much someone spends, but the thought of getting something for you at a price that is fair for them. If we can't both feel good about the gift giving process, then we shouldn't be giving gifts to each other!

I did this with my preschooler, only I'd hide it for awhile until they were all forgotten and then the toys were given back as 'prizes' for going potty!

I feel bad sometimes because I don't like xmas. I hate shopping, don't like the singing, can't/don't cook/bake, and we spend all our time at (or going to) someone's place due to not living near any of our family. I feel bad that I'm somehow 'robbing' my kids of xmas but at the same time, I just can't fake it for a whole month every year.

What do other non-traditional people do for their kids during this time and how do you explain that other people are REALLY into it but you're not? My 3 year old doesn't get why we don't have a giant tree - and next year I"m sure I'll have to start explaining why.

I want them to be excited and enjoy what they are given/have - but I don't know how. I end up just feeling like I'm not doing a 'good job' because I can't fake xmas.

I'm with you hopper - we have a family meal with all my cousins and each person has to stand up and say what they did that year. Well, I am married, have two kids. We plug away at our bills. How exciting compared to those finishing university, traveling the world, and so on. I hate feeling like my whole year gets summed up in one minute and then it feels like it was wasted.

I have two young boys and I'm torn as to how to celebrate. We HAVE to travel every year at xmas so we're not even home for it. I don't know WHAT to do about traditions for us when we won't be home for it - and when my husband and I are halloween people instead of xmas people, it makes life harder!

Love it. I'd rather see this kind of room than the regurgitated pastel garbage of pukey pink for girls and blah blue for boys.
Time to embrace actual uniqueness, not just naming your kid something messed up to 'make them unique'.

Bravo to making a room into something cool and unique!

My parents bought our family an ipad - my 2.5 year old has enjoyed it SO much. by finding educational games for him to play, he's learning while playing! it's not just a mindless video game - there is so much out there. He loves the Monster at the end of the book app and there is a Toca series that he adores. Taking the time to find decent applications is so worth it - and I've been shocked at how much he is truly learning. I'd never let him touch my computer, but this allows him to learn tech, learn and play.

I would have loved it minus the white paint - what is the point of doing all of that just to cover it? The colors would have been awesome to see!

Funny how colors can do that to us - mess with our eyes and our minds!

We did that twice in our kitchen. Our friends had the warmest and most awesome kitchen - painted a golden yellow. So we tried it. I didn't even get one coat into it before both my husband and I voted NO. Wanting to still be funky and warm and have a cool color - we went to a pumpkin orange. That lasted a few months before it was painted out - after discussions asking ourselves if it really was pumpkin orange, was it TOO orange, did it seem more yellowy-orange or reddy orange?

You are NOT alone - there ARE other crazy people out there with crazy color ideas!

Awesome! She'll even be able to enjoy it as she grows. I hate how people do the same blah rooms for kids - it's good to see more people embracing color for either sex and expressing themselves.

Let's face it, who is going to stare at the room for the first year anyways - you and your partner! Baby spends most time there sleeping - it's you who will sit there awake looking at it while feeding them etc.

Enjoy the awesome room with your baby :)
