Perfect timing! I need to buy some fabric this weekend for my new futon/daybed. Mine is outdoors (covered porch) so I will probably try to get outdoor curtain panels, if they haven't been entirely replaced by Christmas decor. How To Convert a Couch to a Guest Room |

I want to do mismatched chairs one day but I will paint/stain them to be the same color so they won't be too distracting. In the mean time I'm stuck with my matching, boring, somewhat uncomfortable chairs. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Roundup: Mismatched Dining Rooms |

We recently decided that I am the put-away-er while my husband is the cleaner. I'm also the vacuum/mop/dust person but since I'm putting everything away anyway, it's just easier for me to go ahead and vacuum/mop/dust. Our house isn't 100% perfect at all times but it does feel much more under control since we started this pattern. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Cleaning Tip: Putting Things Back Where They Belong |

I never officially signed up for the cure but we did set out a chore list to avoid having things fall through the cracks and our apartment getting out of control. The place looks better just because we're picking up more often (which then helps speed up actual cleaning) and I was inspired to pull out a rug I've had stored for years and put it in the living room. It looks great! My home is a much more relaxing place. Apartment Therapy New York | The Spring Cure: Graduation One of Three |

I have a friend who is a repeat offender when it comes to boundaries. One time we had several friends over for our regular game night. I saw him eyeing a drawer where I keep my "stuff" - I couldn't even tell you exactly what all is in there - and sure enough a minute later he reached over and opened the drawer. He closed it and saw me looking at him and he looked embarrassed. "I just wanted to know what was in there." I looked at him a moment longer then we both went back to the game. Part of what makes it difficult with this particular friend is he used to live with my husband years ago so he uses roommate standards for boundaries even with *my* stuff. We finally got out of the habit of waiting on him to go somewhere because we were giving him rides "because it will be easier" (his words). Oy. For container gardens, I absolutely love using self-watering containers (very similar to EarthBoxes but homemade). They're cheap and quick to make - I made four in a half hour out of plastic five-gallon buckets. You can even re-use five-gallon buckets that once held food if you know a local restaurant that uses them. Googling "self watering containers" will provide a ton of helpful links. The only caution I have is that some herbs prefer drier environments and actually won't do as well in SWCs, but my tomato, strawberry, and bell pepper plants are very happy on my tiny porch!
