Mmm! I've been doing something similar for a tasty GF treat. Mine isn't as fancy, I just mash up a ripe avocado, squeeze a little lemon or lime (or both), add salt, stir it all together and eat it on a rice cake or some rice crackers.

I love love love avocados!

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all your wonderful suggestions - there were a lot that I looked into. I especially like the idea of putting up wallpaper under plexiglass or hanging plates.

I ended up buying this metal sheet with a cool design from Home Depot that was the exact size I needed. It looks great and it hides the grease stains!

Oh - and if I was attending your family events I would think a flourless chocolate cake or some yummy looking cookies using gluten-free oats would be awesome (http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/sweets/recipe-peanut-butter-fudge-oatmeal-cookies-129377). The good thing about buying gluten-free oats is that it's still oats and can be used for tons of other none gluten-free recipes!

"My mom always suggests I go out and buy something pre-made for my relative, but I always feel like that singles her out and isn't as tasty anyway."
You are a very nice person (and this gluten-free girl appreciates your efforts for other gluten-free people) because yes, we do like to eat what everyone else is eating :)

ooh I like lal's idea! Or talk to urban schools or urban kids clubs about using them for a fundraiser? That would be satisfying I'd think :)

Location, location, location! Location + a view? Better yet! I pay more for a view (and not a brick wall) and it's worth it, in my opinion.

A bowl of Cookie Crisp! Occasionally my brother and I could eat sugary cereal for a snack. Mostly it was ritz bits or some form of cracker w/something on it (PB&J, cheese...). Granola bars were good for high school between school and track practice. Or string cheese and piece of fruit.
