Cheapest would be to either buy bolts of fabric, up to 60" wide, as many yards as you need from PARON in NYC and iron tape them or
have them made into simple panels or buy curtians from Ikea.

Echoing mschatelaine, frankly, I find it quite tacky to post images of Francesca's house without giving her or the site Remodelista a link or attribution. This isn't a staged show house, this is a real home of real people in the design community in NY whose work has been DIRECTLY inspirational to AT. Why wouldn't you mention that by name? Reblogging it from somewhere else is no excuse.

1. But the water flows out to... where? In traditional pots with saucers, the water gets caught in the sauicers and cools the roots. These just let the water seep out to pool uselessly and wastefully onto your deck.
2. Yeah looks like an Ikea bag would work as well,( good thinking Ikea bag users!) and if you don't like its blue color, you could put you ikea bag into some of those plaid 99 cent store bags for the outside too.
3.Those look unwieldy, floppy yet heavy and hard to move.

I'd say go for the cheaper bed, take the savings as found money, and add it to your 401k invest it or put it in a CD. Then every time you feel bad about your cheaper bed you can look at your compounding interest and get a warm fuzzy glow that will help you sleep better at night! ( I'm SERIOUS)

I arrange my clothes by category and color familybut I think that's just practical.
I make my bed EVERY day ( lamely, with a comforter)
I once got in a major fight with my then- b.f. over his poor dishwater loading, during which I believe I said "It's not just my opinion, there's a frikkin' diagram on the box!". Didn't go over so well.

I had a cat that peed on other people's stuff, when those people pissed me off. It was kind of cool, actually. ( Kitty and I didn't last long at that place though)

Shoes off and put under or at the end of the bed along with the other pairs in rotation. In the house I wear flip flops or bare feet in summer, in winter heavy socks...I never made a rule about this, just found myself doing it, and when I go to pals' houses too. Its cleaner and much more comfortable. Now I even find myself taking my shoes off at work ( I teach college seminars I can get away with it!)

This decor style is a humorless, faux-chill but secretly uptight bummer. Reminds me of Tim Robbins' purgatory scenes in 'Human Nature'. Zombie Anthropologie.

Not to be nitpicky! I mean , I get this is a primer, just I think the post title is misleading. As posters are mentioning, this isn't so much about working with color as Color 101. I think working with color would include more of the issues raised in the comments...

I'm definitely a 80% color(s) and 20% neutral person! And I think you can very well mix warm and cool colors with abandon,as long as they balance. There are also cool whites and warm whites, cool red and warm reds, cool and warm purples, etc, a lot of depends on saturation, hue, lighting, shapes.....How about have some fun playing with color, educate your eye and find your own color 'voice', go to museums, make mistakes, put 10 paint samples on the wall, and train your eyes...you might be surprised at what you end up liking...
