I find some of these comments rather ironic, unless they were all written by non-meat-eaters. I don't eat meat and don't wear fur but I recognize that it can be done in a respectful way (just as the opposite can be true). Green? Well I guess that depends on a number of factors related to manufacturing. It's a silly ad.

To the person who said the animals are often "skinned alive," where do you come up with that? I know hunter-trappers who provide fur for the industry and I've never seen any evidence of that. Doesn't seem very efficient if you think about it.

I second many of the other comments here (esp. re: taxidermy and the tendency toward the twee) but also want to add that if I see another poster saying "Keep Calm and Carry On," I'm going to lose it.

I love seeing people's personalities shine through their decor, not their slavishness to fads. I agree that the Euro Elle Decor mags do this much better than the American one. I canceled my subscription but buy English and Dutch whenever I can.

In terms of what I'd like to see more of...more adventurous use of color! There have been some very inspiring examples on AT. Keep it up!

If you want to use Swiffer in a more environmentally friendly way, I suggest using moistened rags. We cut an old t-shirt into pieces and use them instead of the Swiffer sheets (for floors AND cobwebs around ceilings). You can wash and reuse them as many time as you want.

I whole-heartedly recommend Ray at United Upholstery (aka "the upholstery man") in Silverlake.

We got several things done after seeing the work he did for Sueño on Sunset. Very good and good turn-around time. Prices are reasonable as well and he'll work with any fabric you give him or you can pick from the wide array of samples he has.

Some things are way overpriced (tacky plastic laminated dining table for $500? crappy old computer that doesn't work?) but there are finds to be had. Especially if what you're looking for is not "obviously" valuable to whoever's doing the pricing. We got a beautiful danish modern-type credenza in good condition for $65 and for a small extra fee, they even delivered it.
