Check out the Andre chair or the Wells chair from Room and Board. Not the same, but really close.

I bet the ones in the picture were a vintage find...

I'm in a similar situation as Aldyth. My family is separated by hundreds of miles (I'm the farthest), and traveling just plain costs too much. We also have decided not to get each other gifts this year (except for the little ones, of course!). It sounds depressing, but we're all okay with it. In fact, I think we all feel a bit better for not spending all that money that in the end feels so flamboyant and pointless. And I'm sure we'll all be more inspired to make donations to help those who actually need it.

I like how the birds have people-hands.

I like them...kind of have a Poe feel to them.

Hmmm, it seems like you might be asking for trouble by painting that piano. You'll probably need to take some areas of it apart (the pull down cover for the keys, the wood surrounding the keys) to avoid getting paint into the working parts of the piano. Maybe its just my paranoia.

Just make sure the finish of the paint doesn't wind up being sticky. That could cause problems.

Also, I can't tell what kind of piano that is, but when I was growing up we had a Chickering, which wasn't in great shape, but some had become valuable collectors items, as they don't make true Chickerings any more and were somewhat unconventional.

It's probably just me and my memories from my childhood, but I just can't imagine painting that, no matter how junky the piano. I just couldn't do it. (And I don't think it's blah...its a piano!) That said, if you are going to do it, maybe a glossy glammy (but not sticky-glossy!) Black.

Actually, just out of curiosity, what kind of piano is that?

I have that same bed! West Elm, if it is in fact the same. You probably got it second hand for a bargain. I got mine in store. Full price. I suck.

Lovely home. Usually when a home has too much beige and neutral, it seems boring, but somehow yours doesn't.

I have the same situation as HooteNanny. My boyfriend and I moved cross-country together with whatever would fit in our cars and nothing else. We've been slowly building up, and still have a long way to go. Splitting our stuff up would be HARD.

I have the opposite situation with the TV though...we lived with his brother for a while, who, for whatever reason, bought a 50-something inch behemoth HDTV, you know, one of those ones that is its own piece of furniture. The thing is HIDEOUS and takes up so much floor space. The brother ended up moving a state away and didn't feel like moving the TV and guess who "got" to keep it? We did. Needless to say, I won't be fighting for that one.

And actually the before isn't all bad! Kind of a white sanctuary bedroom.

I'm guessing there is a liner curtain behind the fern ones that goes inside the tub to prevent water rushing out.

Cynthia, I thought the same thing. I thought, is it really necessary to note the designer, because it looks pretty average to me.

This spoils it for me. How much time is supposed to have passed? In 5 seasons their apartments didn't change a whole lot, and now all of a sudden Carrie has blue walls and a purple rug??

I'm still going to see it...I was too big a fan of the show.

Also, looks like Carrie suddenly has no radiator in her bedroom...

I wonder if they really did use used ones, or if they just got a case of them or whatever, just to make a statement. I find it hard to believe that they fished these out of the garbage or that people were thoughtful enough to collect them rather than toss them. The point is lost unless they are really used, i think.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

daleysdose -- a gem! That is a great idea! Can you imagine this with a huge hunk of drusy instead of a boring old rock? I guess it is probably too delicate to use as a knocker though. Still, great idea (for DIY I mean).

Can't stand it. I agree with jojippitydrum...it seems as if you reverted to an old version rather than upgrading. I can't name a single improvement. I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The old format (with the black background) was so much better.

It kind of sucks too because so many of the comments on some of the most recent house tours had nothing to do with the home at all, but with the slideshow. Totally detracted from the purpose of the tours.

ALSO, half of the ones I tried to look at I didn't even get halfway through, because either it was loading too slowly or the format was too bulky and distracting.

I think the black background is so much better than the white because it allows you to really get a feel for the home. The white is just too distracting.

Just giving you (lots of) my feedback! (hey, don't say you didn't ask!)

Ikea doesn't sell anything online that would be worth the shipping cost. It is pretty much just the big stuff, for which the shipping usually ends up costing as much if not more than the product. WHY does Ikea do shipping so poorly??
