on wind... my freestanding umbrella blew over twice even though it was folded had one of those HEAVY iron bases. I keep it indoors most of the time now.

My two cents... While the real clay pots look nice, some sort of salt deposit forms on mine. Also, I'm afraid they will crack because of the freezing winter temperatures so I end up bringing them indoors for the winter... not cool if you bring in the bugs with them.

I use a squeegee after each shower, too. I keep it nearby on a suction cup hook.

I've used three in my lifetime. Here's what I've learned from using the...

Holmes Permanent Wick HM7600-U:
-It's noisy.
-The wick gets moldy but I guess that's my fault for not cleaning/drying it EVERY morning.
-It's not ultrasonic so I can't see the mist that I'm used to seeing.

Bionaire Ultrasonic Personal Humidifier:
-It doesn't hold enough water to run all night.
-It shoots its mist straight up so the immediate area surrounding it is wet in the morning. Couldn't put it flush against the wall.
-It has an annoying blue light that lights up the room at night.
-It doesn't automatically turn off.
But it's low cost and small size make it okay to keep on your office desk, I guess.

Awesome, no-name, hand-me-down humidifier that I gave to my dad:
-It had a humidity meter (for auto on/off).
-It had a water tank with an opening large enough to fit my hand into it so it was relatively easy to clean.
-It had an adjustable nozzle to direct the flow of mist.
I guess I learned that I should not have given it away.

Good luck.

My mother was a very generous and selfless person, even when she had nothing material to give. When I moved out, she gave me a tiny jade plant. Today, almost ten years later, that jade plant is so healthy and robust that I regularly give away potted cuttings to friends and family, just like Mom would have. I'm always looking for more pots for my cuttings.

I wish I had read these posts before buying my West Elm bed.

I purchased the narrow-leg upholstered bed frame with matching head board (http://www.westelm.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODf580&storeId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId=17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE-SH1FRNBED&retainNav=true&cmsrc=WE-SH1FRNBED)
on September 2. The left-side rail was defective; not all the holes lined up for assembly. West Elm said they would have a new left-side rail sent to me "right away." A week later, I called back to see about the status of this. "We have no record of your call," was their response. So I requested another left-side rail and called every day to follow up on this. I received a right-side rail instead. They're shipping me another left-side rail.

Customer service has been courteous. And they have made an effort to ship parts to me using 2nd day air. However, I can't help feeling frustrated because of their incompetence.
