This might be my favourite house tour on ApT to date. Love the use of colour, love the living room windows and all that light. The chairs in the living room with all those cushions are perfect for a long read. I was almost completely in love with the place when the upstairs pavilion was revealed. Fabulous.

Timely post for me! In the last week I managed to lock myself out of my house, misplace my phone, forget my bike keys (meaning I had to walk from the station to my house).

I was so annoyed with myself that I sat down and analysed what was going wrong. It's a combination of (a) getting sidetracked with online stuff, so I'd run out the door in a great hurry. And (b) clutter/mess from the day before interfering with today.

So I am working on two new habits; 'clear the decks', so that everything is put away at night. I've found it takes me two - four ad breaks. I mean that's not even real time!

Second habit is to turn my morning routine around, get all the stuff done so I can walk out the door anytime THEN play online. I'm going to add setting an alarm so that when it goes off I leave.

agree with #5, it's way too much energy to keep everything soooo tidy, organised and lined up.

My number one tip;
Simplify the menu or buy ready made something, don't try to do it all yourself.

I've cooked for fifty people before, it was a lot of fun, but the menu was Pasta dishes and big plates of salad, because that's what I can cook in large amounts.

Agree with the suggestions above. Also talk to the landlord, when I left the last rental place he didn't require it to be repainted. I had done neutralish walls and pale woodwork so it wasn't a difficult colour scheme for the next person. I added colour through the furnishings which I knew I could take with me.

I'd add shelves, change light fittings and change curtains. I don't think I'd do more unless there was something that really didn't work.

Mine would be something around those big decisions we agonise and lose sleep over.

Imagine yourself doing A, if that feels wrong then the answer is B.

I like the idea of the cage shower. I'm sure it uses more water but think how quickly you'd be rinsed off.

Love the use of colour and the home-made craft effects. You have a great style!

(I've done the same as you - bought all IKEA and am slowly buying new long lasting furniture as I can afford it, although I doubt I'll ever get rid of the Billy bookshelves.)

Great use of space, I like that you've really created a work space that you can enter and be focused on your work. I like that you've chosen things that please you, and rejected anything that doesn't. And I love that you've created a playground for Sophie (who seems to know just how good she looks against blue).

I look forward to seeing what you do with your next space, and with your design career (since I'll follow the blog from now on).
