Wow - I've never seen it from that angle before and rather like it, but I always thought it was ghastly from the ground. Ditto the "dungeon inside" sentiment though. Apartment Therapy Boston | Boston City Hall: World's #1 Ugliest Building? Not if young architects have anything to do with it... |

It's a look - and this isn't bad. My parents' dining room (as left by previous owner) is floor-to-ceiling (inclusive) hardwood, but it's also a small, closed room with one tiny north-facing window. It's *dark*. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Survey: How Much Wood in a Space is Too Much? Austin |

I have the larger one too - I've had it for about a year - and I love everything about it (well, except that the black shelves tend to show dust). Very, very solid. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Thoughts on Thomas O'Brien Furniture? |

@El Jinx - in this context, "reusable" means you can take it with you when you hit the big time and upgrade to the double-wide. Apartment Therapy New York | Hot or Not?: Toilet Tatoos |

Akino-yes, the photo itself gives it away immediately, every single time. Pity, because it would be fun to actually guess based on the decor without that bias. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Guess the Decade: A Cook's Kitchen |

I confess to doing next to *nothing* so far this week. I can't be burned out already, just a glitch. Not sure what I've been doing with myself instead. Tonight and tomorrow night aren't looking good for curing either, being occupied by Holy Week observances. So, I'll have to commit to spending some moderate and well-bounded block of time on Saturday to a general kitchen cleaning - fortunately, it's not in bad shape. I may also be able to borrow a drill and make some headway on hanging curtain rods, since I've already measured and marked for them. Yes, I've done this a few times, and yes, it works when nothing else does. My impression has always been, though, that it isn't a technique meant for regular use, that with repetition there is some chance of damaging the porcelain finish. But still great for stubborn cases. I've defined my goals for the Cure. In addition to the general cleaning and reconfiguring of the Deep Treatment, I'm going to finally put up all my curtains (for the last fall cure I'd just moved in and was still deciding what to do with the windows) and deal with some annoying miscellaneous boxes in my spare room. Just tonight I've been dusting and doing some small repairs. Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Spring Cure: Week One |

I have twinkle lights around the ceiling line of my bedroom for the same reason - I used to put them up in my LR at Christmas and just loved the quality of the ambient light. And if you put up enough to outline a good-sized room, it's actually a considerable amount of illumination, too. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Rope Light in the Bathroom |

Not, "Gross! No!" Just, "No." I really dislike bathrooms no matter how well appointed, and don't care to be there, for any reason, a moment longer than necessary. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Bathroom Reading... |

Should probably formally say that I'm in. My plan this time is to follow the Deep Treatment to the letter and see where that gets me. Plus a few side projects that I know will squeeze in. Apartment Therapy Chicago | The Spring Cure: Week Zero |

Ceramic cross purchased "somewhere out west" and glazed in colors matching my linens. My bathroom ventilates too poorly for anything paper-based - even if it were something cheap that I didn't mind ruining, it wouldn't stay looking good for long enough to be worthwhile. Having a couch that's not comfortable to sit on isn't compatible with any of the functions you say are goals for this room (entertaining, lounging) - and that's the kind of problem that causes resentment and resistance to using the room. You seem to have a lot of negative to say about the piece already, so I really think you can find something that will work better. I preferred closed for a long time because I'm a little...er, what's the opposite of claustrophobic? But I'm not that particular now and it often depends on the weather and heating/ac/airflow conditions. Though lately it's always open because my cat likes to stay up later than I do.
