So many children are being brought up to be self-centered and rude. And based on the comments on this thread ("children should be allowed to express their feelings" "why should kids have to be made to cover up how they feel about something?" "There is no reason why a child can't say "Gee, I appreciate the gift, but...") it's not about to get better. We were always taught to say "Thank you so much!" If we did not like the gift, we did not mention that fact. We said something nice about it and moved on. It's not about being taught to lie, not expressing our feelings or covering up anything. It's about being kind to the people who thought enough about you to give you a gift. Appropriateness of Gift Cards for Young Children? Good Questions |

The key information in this piece is the fact that the oven heats to 900-1000 degrees during self cleaning. Many kitchens are not equipped for such temperatures, such as my friend's...she ran the self cleaning feature which got so hot it ignited the microwave above the oven. She got out of her apartment in her nightgown with her cat in her arms, no time to get the cat carrier or get dressed. MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't use the self cleaning feature on your oven...please. Here is the best reason of all...my friend recently used the self cleaning feature on her oven which overheated to such an extent that it caused the microwave above to explode. The fire gutted the entire kitchen, she and her cat got out safely, but she is still waiting for renovations to be completed enough to move back in to the apartment. There are much safer ways to clean an oven. Why You Should (Almost) Never Use Your Oven's Self-Cleaning Function |

Yes, Marrakech is a magical place full of contrasts...the smells (leather production vs flowers and spice), the temperature (extreme heat vs cool of the garden), the sounds (cacophony vs the call to prayer), the hospitality ( getting your ass groped in the market place, being invited home for a meal) the food... some of the best I have had ANYWHERE....I could go on and on. I would go back in a heartbeat. Magical Marrakech Dream Escape |

yeah, this seems unnecessarily wasteful...double plastic bagging water with wax in it? If you must clean your candle holders this way, wait til the water cools, remove the hardened wax and use the water for plants, or something! I put water in the bottom of my holders for easy removal of spent candles, and periodically wash them in hot soapy water when I am doing dishes. I work in a theater and spend most of my time in costume. I was a fairly new member of the company when we were doing a very long show with a large break in the middle of it. I would normally get out of costume as soon as I got off stage, leave the theater, then return a few hours later to complete the show. One performance landed on my birthday, and my dressing-room mates, knowing that I would leave the theater during the break, HID my street clothes, forcing me to stay for in the theater, where they threw me the most fun party I have ever had.
