Survey: What Type of Recycler Are You?

My household recycles as much as we can though somethings my local trash pick up won't take (like thin plastic packaging) I take any grocery bags that pile up despite my switch to net bags (the pile is MUCH smaller) to my grocery store which recycles them. Also I have a compost pile, outside my apartment for my tiny garden.

A friend of mine recently brought up that the cost of recycling is very high in terms of pollution (he went as far to say it is more polluting than just making new stuff), does any one know much about this? I know recycling is better in terms of not using as many resources both renewable and non-renewable, and I personally would rather we had less land devoted to landfills and pulp forest. Really the very best option is to avoid trash at all, but really our society isn't set up for that yet. I'd like to be more informed about the pollution cost of my "green" habits, if any one has any thoughts it'd be much appreciated.

engineergirl and luz I really agree, it is so frustrating that businesses aren't required to do any of that, I wonder how many boxes and pounds of paper, plastic and compostable food stuff just goes in our landfills every day just in business waste.

annalyssa, your description of how to start a book collection is beautiful and true to the way many of us feel about our books. They are maps for us, they indicate where we have traveled and where we wish to go. Even the books I own but haven't read just yet, point in the direction of who I want to be.

Personally I am so envious of this client that he has so many shelves he doesn't know what to fill them with, my wishlist is ridiculously long, but . . .unless he likes Annie Dillard, Barbara Kingsolver, and fairytales I am not much help. Maybe a collection of beautiful reference books would be a good addition to a collection. I think it would be helpful to know what moore's client likes or does, catrobmar mentioned using Amazon's recommendation service which is pretty helpful. Anyway I don't really have more to say that hasn't been already said, just that I think annalyssa's comment got to the crux of why so many got a little persnickety without being mean herself.

Ohh! I think you could sell them, it seems a great indicator that people ask you about them. My small suggestion would be to widen the strap a little or change the color of it using different bags, just to give it a little umph.

Both of the plants in the the flowerbox are succulents, the spikey one is mother-in-law's tongue also called a snake plant, and the purple/black one is something related to the Aeonium arboreum, I have a tiny hybrid I found at a home improvement store, but you can order them online . . somewhere. Sorry I can't be more helpful in that regard.
I have a mild fascination with these plants and my collection is getting out of hand, last count fifty-four, but that was before they started propagating themselves. Yay for weird Dr. Seuss plants!
