Normally when something British is preferred over American, I agree with a nod and a benevolent smile. But in this case you are selling yourself short - I've been a G&T lover for years and my favourite gin to use is Rogue Brewery's spruce gin. It has a beautiful smooth taste and its flavours still come across clearly through the bitterness of tonic. Why British Gin Makes a Better Cocktail |

I come from a family where Christmas was never a big event. On the flipside, for my husband it's huge and since we will have a couple of months old baby and both sets of grandparents with us this year, I expect he will go a bit overboard. I got this as a Christmas present and have used it a few times. It is very sturdy and I can even safely balance it on a window sill that's just an inch shorter than the stand. The Belkin Chef Stand for iPads and Tablets Product Review |

Pointy end here, with the knife method of cutting. Also, I would disagree that the egg cup is a unitasker. I have some simple ones from Ikea that I also use as maple syrup vessels when we eat pancakes, making our breakfast that bit more posh. How to Open a Soft Boiled Egg |

Our cats love the heat emanating from our respective laptops but the more annoying habit one of them has is rubbing his eyes all over the corners. Kitty eye goo all around - gross. Pets and Tech: A Hairy Situation |

All the time, except if I need to look at something flash-only. I bought it after resisting it for a long time and usually just inheriting apple fan-boy husband's cast offs. Reader Survey: How Often Do You Use Your iPad? |

I paid for Cal Closets to do our 3' and 5' reach-ins and have moved into a house since that has 2 custom fitted closets in the master bedroom. I don't have that many clothes but even so with a custom closet they are kept in a much better condition because there is space to properly store them, be they folded or hanging. In a simple closet with the builder's basic wire shelf all our clothes just looked like the dog's dinner. Sweater avalanches anyone? Pros and Cons of Custom Closets |

I've not had a lot of success poaching eggs (not giving up just yet) but we were watching How To Cook With Heston, which showed how he does it - no vinegar, freshest of eggs and barely simmering water. He makes it look very simple, so I shall add his technique to the list of ones I'm going to try in search of the perfect poached egg. Relax: Advice for Perfectly Poached Eggs |

Our two cats sleep with us, one of them under the covers at some point every night. I had every intention of NOT allowing them on the bed when we got them, but that lasted all of one night. Reader Roundup: Pets in Your Bed? |

We have quite a few neighbours whose cats are on the leash. Next door's cat is walked, another a few doors up just likes to sit outside on his leash, guarding the complex (seriously, he's like a meerkat). Where we live raccoons and other wildlife are not unheard of in the city so not many people allow their cats free roam. Would You Leash-Train Your Cat? The New York Times |

I would get one in a heartbeat! I sit near the IT head and a bunch of software engineers and the incessant mouse clicking is slowly driving me round the bend. I use mine for baking but realized just this past weekend, when trying to bake bread from a professional baking book, that it only does 5g increments. I will have to buy a new one, which isn't a hardship as my current one can be flaky. Survey: Do You Own (and Use) a Kitchen Scale? |
