Do a little research on them: if they have any value, don't paint (just watch a few episodes of antique roadshow where someone stripped the original color off a dresser and you will know why). Keep it simple, save money and use hand-me-downs. in every small college town I know, there is an attic or storage space with tons of furniture for sale. I used my dorm room for sleeping, since there were 3 of us in about 100 square feet. I spent most of my time in the hallway, library or lounge (not always even in my own dorm) and took advantage of all the other good spaces on campus. I would also take it to a few other upholsters near you and see if they have something similar as well. I bet they would be less expensive than the White House fabric producers. I agree with cometz. get them cleaned up and have your daughter decide. it will be something you two can work on together and the chairs will become even more valuable to your daughter. I would get more cable so I could move the TV around. Use the little staple things to run it along the wall. do you have larger art pieces? Right now, everything is small on the wall. I would use a large piece over the fireplace. Feel free to break up the spaces too. Make an exercise nook and a TV wall. The scale of the print is too small for me on that big poofy chair. big chairs = big bold prints. you could go with a strong solid color as well, with a great texture. index cards in a box. I often record information like phone numbers, faxes (I use it for work too), email, websites, etc. Any one format doesn't really work for me since there is a lot of non standard information. as long as they adopt an animal from a shelter and give it a loving home it is fine with me. I would prefer that they don't announce what breed or mix they get (the Water Dog is a breed, the other one is a mix of Labrador and poodle). Announcing them makes the dog popular or trendy and then tons of them end up in shelters because people cannot take care of them.
