I'm also on a buying fast. About four days after Christmas, I was at Target and I overheard a child asking their parents to get them a piggy bank. The parent responded, "You just received two piggy banks for Christmas!"

At the time, I was considering buying a set of really gorgeous teacups and saucers at the flea market. I have no less than six sets of teacups, some of which I've never used and some I've only used once or twice. Furthermore, I don't drink tea.

I didn't buy the teacups. I took all my credit cards out of my wallet. Obviously, I need to develop an ability to appreciate beautiful things without actually owning them.

I haven't quite learned how to manage my relationship with stuff. I don't hold on to things unnecessarily, and my house isn't remotely cluttered. But I feel like my style changes all the time. I'll love and collect something for a while and then be completely over it and want it out of my house. This has, fortunately, been mostly contained to small, decorative things, but I feel guilty for being so fickle. Maybe I'm completely wrong on this point, but it seems like people used to decorate and then be done with it--my grandparents had the same furniture and decorations for 30 years.
Furthermore, I feel like we're living in a time where frugality is equated with virtuousness but we now have access to purchase things from almost anywhere and we're hyper aware of what other peoples' homes look like, what other people are buying, how much our own homes are "lacking"--it's an uncomfortable line to walk.

we bought a new mattress less than a year ago, and i can't quite pinpoint what's wrong with it, but my back and neck are a mess every morning. i feel like my whole upper body is being squished together and i can't straighten out.

i absolutely love the ace hardware brand paint. i've used ben moore before and felt that the coverage wasn't as even. i used the behr color polar bear on the walls with bm simply white trim and i love it. it's warm but still looks clean. ace has a color called silent white which is absolutely lovely.
