Thanks for the framed spoon idea. I inherited a couple hundred of those tiny spoons and forks and they just sit in a silver drawer because there's not a lot of modern-day uses for them.

I also have a set of these, from my grandmother, and they are sterling silver. I think they were seen much more when people registered for silver place settings when getting married. I use mine all the time and wish I could get more of them that aren't a hideous stainless steel pattern. You see a lot of sets on ebay and sometimes they're not too pricey.

I also really like Harney and Sons teas. My favorite is the Cherry Blossom.

I use remnants of lemons to make whiskey sours. I like to avoid using that nasty store bought mix.

I use garlic powder when I make flavored nuts that have to go in the oven. If I used fresh the garlic would most likely burn and/or overpower the taste of the nuts.

I want to make the cinnamon candies out of Saveur but I don't know where to get cinnamon oil or extract. All I can find if the fake cinnamon flavoring stuff.

I agree that it's refreshing to see a different look posted, sometimes these house tours can lead towards the modern and not everyone is in love wholeheartedly with that look.

I agree with the person who said to get a pet. Having a pet is like having a roommate without any of the negatives (except the litter box). They sleep half the day and are thrilled and eternally grateful to you for merely giving them half a cup of food. When you come home from a long day at work they don't pester you with conversation. It's great!

I found it hard to adjust to cooking for one also. I love to cook, so I guess I got used to it quicker than some people. But I love to bake and don't eat a ton of sweets and I was accustomed to living with family or roommates who would eat up everything I baked within a matter of hours. I never had to "eat it up" to avoid it going bad. Now I have to bake half portions.

Wow, I always thought I was one of the only people who disliked raw tomato! I feel better now.
I also don't care for most squash, tarragon (or any licorice-esqe food) or Campari. Really wished I could like Campari b/c I'm stuck with this huge bottle of the stuff...

Keep an eye on the used products on amazon.com too, sometimes you see stuff a little cheaper there than on ebay or craigslist. Although, right now I don't see the Cuisinart ICE-50BC super cheap on amazon. Maybe towards the end of summer?

Oh my, I can't believe someone else is as interested in cream peas as I am! My grandmother lives in Jackson, MS and that's the first and only place I've ever seen them and eaten them. In Jackson, they are actually sold in grocery stores frozen by a large company (can't recall the name). She actually buys them for me, freezes them and flies down to South FL (where I live) with them in her luggage just so I can have them. They are no where to be found in FL.

I've tried the one in the photo, Harney and Sons. It was pretty good, not overly chocolate flavored. I think I brewed it way too long though, it made my stomach hurt. Harney and Sons also has a chocolate mint flavored tea. That one I have to be in the mood for though.
