I just bought a large sofa from Alchemy, and though I haven't gotten it yet (it arrives at the end of the month!) I was in their showroom in Seattle and checked out a lot of sofas, and was very impressed! Having been to the showroom, I can tell you that they have a rather limited selection of fabrics, but the quality is great and if you find a fabric that you like, I recommend them warmly! The Piazza sofa from CB2 is one of the most comfortable sofas I have ever sat on. Its not the most gorgeous, but its attractive, deep and you can really sink into it. Perhaps not easy, Chryses, but it looks great! I love that you used the entire height of the room, which is a big advantage of the Stolmen. I've used Stolmen as my walk-in closet arrangement and have been very happy with it. It looks quite industrial, and very few people recognize it as ikea (a plus, in my book). Maybe i'm missing something, but it seems to me the solution to the skirt issue is quite simple- not having access to the area immediately under the stairs. (easily done). unless you are looking straight up, I can't imagine much under-skirtage going on. I am a pianist, and when I lived in a brownstone on the upper west side I used to practice with the window open (no air con!). I always expected a knock on the door to tell me to stop, but was very pleasantly surprised. On quite a few occasions I would finish a piece and would hear applause from the street (sometimes I had a real crowd out there :) ). One day the doorbell rang, and one of the neighbors was at the door with her daughter. I braced myself for the lawsuit, but the mother wanted to know when my next concert is, and the daughter wanted to know if I was single.... Who knew New yorkers could be so nice? Goddess Findings (interesting name!), I had a similar thought. I'm pianist myself, and thought, wouldn't this place make a fantastic performance/recording venue... Gorgeous place. I think it is very small/cool- if it is indeed around 700 square feet. It feels huge (obviously the enormous walls of glass and 20 foot ceilings help...).
