Our current place has the cutlery tray and at first we were totally confounded by it. But once we worked out how you were supposed to put the cutlery in, I was converted. Things rarely come out dirty anymore, and it's so much easier to group like with like when loading, which makes unloading a total breeze. Oh, and you don't even have to be that fussy about putting them in; our forks are often a tad on the diagonal side... Dishwasher Cutlery Racks & Baskets: Which Is Best? |

It's pretty, but I agree that the distressed look isn't necessary (though the jagged lines from compressing the picture doesn't help). And I'm not keen on the pulls ont he middle drawer. Mismatched pulls yes, those particular ones, no. Before & After: Paint Transforms a Vintage Dresser Hart's Desire |

I think the problem's with AT, not YHL. YHL speicifically said they did this as a stopgap before finding the right art (though now they like the look and may keep it). It's AT who are being misleading here both with their title and blurb. And I agree with the poster above who criticised the timing, 3 months later just smacks of "I can't think of a post, so I'm reading blog archives for something to recycle." Naff. I'd do a deep aubergine or plum with dark grey and white trim. It would look beautiful next to the neighbours' houses and be lovely and dramatic. What Color Would You Paint this House? |

the thing that cracks me up about the Mao comment is that he's "the COMMUNIST leader". Like we're blogging back in the 1950s or something. Rae's First Apartment |

I'm not sure about the sex appeal, it just looks drab and cluttered to me. Maybe if the bed was made, I'd like it more but it just looks like it needs a nice bright wall paint or something to brighten it up :-) An Inspiring 64 Square Foot Bedroom | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

I'm sure you can get stools like this at all sorts of prices but I bought mine at ikea about 10 years ago, and it would have been less than $10. Sources for an Adjustable Stool? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Boston |

Meh. I've never understood her popularity. I can't imagine her show will be any better than her blog, so I guess I'll not be watching then. HGTV Signs Heather Armstrong of dooce.com | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I love the sofa and I think the colour is fantastic. It will go with so many different things and I think you'll come to love it too. You do need some colour in the room, in the rug (yellow, red, or acqua-ey green, in a geometric style rather than oriental-looking), and some cushions. I'd also move the ottoman to the side and put a glass coffee table in. Contrast the chairs, and you'll be set. It will be a fabulous room! Always locked, even when I'm home. My house is very long (all one level) and I don't always hear the doorbell when I'm up the other end so I'm not likely to hear intruders. Your Front Door: Locked or Unlocked? Survey | Apartment Therapy DC |

I like it. The only things I'd change are the chairs in the loungeroom, they just don't go with the colour scheme and look too bulky and shabby. Also the blinds, hang them from the top of the window. If they aren't long enough then it's easier to cope visually with a gap at the bottom, which is only there when they're fully closed, than one at the top which is always there. It's a gorgeous flat, I particularly love the loungeroom, but "decadent" and a "riot of colour" it's definitely not. Also count me in the list of people sick of house tours filled with closeups of things and also duplicate photos from a slightly different angle (1,2; 18,19; 34,40). Is there really nothing else to photograph in the house? #comments |

I match socks as I fold the laundry but I might still do this with the husband's drawer as he has about 10 socks that do not have partners. Sometimes this is because I've matched them wrong on the way in (low light, navy and black look the same) but I recently found out that if he has a hole in one sock, he throws it away and puts its partner in the wash!
