Most courthouse records are online. There's no need to leave your home. Google your county and then search their county clerk records, deeds, etc.

I just went on a home tour over the weekend and saw a bathroom with white tile and black grout. Unless you hire a serious professional to do the tile work it looks like a disaster. The dark grout really emphasizes a poorly-done tile job.

bad news. Dakota has a dog, a wife, a kid, and a semi-feral cat who lives outside.

Please! It's not a HISTORICAL neighborhood. It is a HISTORIC neighborhood. If you're going to write about old neighborhoods please google historic vs historical and use the terms correctly.

Also, if it's an older home, how much insulation is in the attic? If you live in an extremely hot or cold climate it may make your bills extremely high. Also, if it's on a corner lot you really might want to check it out at various times of day as there is no other house to block the noise, people squabbling, unsupervised kids screaming, etc.

It was a shame to paint that and cover up that gorgeous old wood. Should have left it alone and picked a piece of furniture which really needed to be painted for the splash of color.

Cool ideas. I'm a member of a postcard swapping site... postcrossing.com where you send out postcards to a random person in the world and when yours is registered you get one in return. I've gotten some amazing cards that way.

Talk about a website that's absolutely annoying and completely pointless. I'm totally turned off and certainly don't have time to go through every little door to look at what they sell. Time to let the items for sale shine, not the flash tricks someone has discovered. Ridiculous and pointless. How about a basic lesson in design?! LESS IS MORE!

I've made several cat beds out of wine crates. My cats have loved them. You can put little feet at the corners to raise it off the ground slightly and then basically upholster the inside placing a pillow at the bottom. Cats absolutely love the size...it's a fancier version of the cat and kid favorite: the cardboard box.

Marble would NOT have been there originally.

How about historically appropriate tile which was originally there? White tile would definitely not work and would cheapen the mantle. Google Victorian fireplace tile for how it should really look. Here's an example: http://www.oldhouseliving.com/2006/12/13/fireplace-tiles-in-historic-houses/

The Huffington Post just yesterday had an article about the best thing you can do for the environment is not have any kids if anyone's interested...

With a life as hectic and in turmoil as those people seem to have...they shouldn't have kids at all. There it is...I said it. They obviously have no time for them. And why is it okay for the dad to lie openly to the mom and that's okay?! I think not. At least some of those kids are going to not turn out very well...some may thrive in the chaos but others won't.

And Patrick, I'm with you.

I recently stayed at the Palomar in Dallas. I have traveled many many times and have never stayed at a hotel where the service was so stellar, the staff was friendly and helpful, and one of the best features is...all Kimpton hotels let you bring your dog(s)! You can even leave your dog(s) in the room while it's being cleaned. It makes your stay so nice when they're that accommodating.

It just has to be said...please use the correct "Its" and "it's". This article starts out "Given it's very..." You are actually saying "Given it is very..." which is not correct grammar. Its is possessive. It's is a contraction when is the combination of It and Is. The ' replaces the letter "i" in is. This site is wonderful but the constant grammar errors kill my design and decorating buzz.

If you want to dispose of shredded paper responsibly (and don't want to make this paper) put it in your composter! It works great.

The scary part about that RHOOC is that they are so sheltered from the "real" world that they threw out those items instead of donating them to a charity who can use them. What a waste...the perfectly good toys go sit in a landfill for a couple thousand years when they could have been given to a child in need or a thrift shop which sells items to make money for a charity. Those people are disgustingly wasteful and think nothing of it.
