Another example of the 80/20 rule ( so the guys don't feel left out) is a man in a suit.
The suit, shirt and shoes are typically in a neutral color but the 20% pop of color usually comes from the tie (and sometimes in the socks)

that said I am with@ spectrogram. I veer towards European deco mags because of their unapologetic use of color in every room.

But remember the series of videos are for people who desire a staring point on using color in their home. Everyone do what moves you.

OK I hate to be that person but this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

For all the islands, you list the country or state that the island is in or near...except Sindabezi Island. For that island you list Africa as it's location.

Africa is a continent not a country.
A huge continent.

It would have been quite easy to find that Sindabezi Island is in the country of Zambia near Victoria Falls.

I haven't been through all 155 comments so this may have already been said. I would have found this post a degree more inspiring if for each great find the location was included.

In what city, state or country, if outside the US, was your great deal found?

I guess I am hoping to find out that great deals still can be had in the NY metro area.

This Post is Great Timing for me. I am going to a conference and just yesterday was thinking about where to get (or how to make) a cool stamp to stamp out some business cards.

Thanks for the lead.

I never thought of the separate and conquer approach. When I first read and re-read The Cure book I was left with the impression that I had to have everything in one spot. This video is a revelation to me that my landing strip can be more than one area.

In my present apartment I enter directly into the kitchen and clearance between the door and the wall is so small that I would knock anything over any time I opened and closed the door.
(Light Bulb! - Maybe I could get the door rehung on the other side!)

Maybe, just maybe, I will finally get a landing strip "system" together.

Thank You!!!

I started a outbox of sorts last week when I got my new television but it is only a pile blocking the entrance to the kitchen.

My 20 minute task today will be formalizing my outbox on my landing. Granted I will see every time I come and go from the apartment but I will get to really feel what it is like without the items INSIDE the house.

And maybe the I will throw in during my 20 minutes contacting some people who may want the stuff.

@mdoroothy You would get similar scents by cooking something but you get the added benefit of humidification which is sorely needed in some parts of the world particularly in the winter time.

Also, if you want the smell regularly, like everyday, baking everyday is way more work. And cooking something with orange or cinnamon or cloves everyday could get redundant.

It is just a simple fun way to get that cozy authentic autumn aroma without all the cooking work.

I am going to set one up right now. :-)

Wasn't Met Home the mag that had that feature "High and Low" ? I Loved that segment or any place that can show you how to mimic high style on a low budget.

My fav mags tend toward the European like any of the non-US Elle Decorations though I do also love Elle Decor. My "go to" is Maire Clare Idee.

I guess it is time to choose 6 to 10 images from the hundreds of random clippings I have saved into Evernote during the last few months.

The 20/20 Home Cure

Each time I started a cure (I have yet to finish one) I did get to the flower buying part and it always made a big difference. It became a reward for actually getting things done, clean and in order.

It has gotten so that I won't buy flowers unless my place is spic and span. Probably not the book's intended result but it has worked as a motivator for me.
I would choose one type of flower or one color, buy one or two bouquets and place it in my newly clean kitchen.

Funnily, I never thought about spreading the flower love around the entire apartment. That is what I will do today. Thanks for the video.

If you live in a large city, I would also like to add hotel lounges and lobbies. Not sure how great they are for laptop work but excellent for reading.
