I found a little Donvier at a thrift shop for $6 a couple years ago and love it. Perfect for quick sorbets and super simple to use.

Another big thumbs up for clean as you go, as well as prepping what you can ahead. Not only does it save space, but it's so much nicer to end a meal knowing there's not a huge mess still waiting back in the kitchen.

Two meals that are always in my freezer in single-serve portions: my favorite rice & beans recipe from Food & Wine (suggested as a side but it's great as a main course) and kitchuri. I usually make my friend's recipe, but Vegetarian Times has a good one, too.

It could be the water. My friends served me a delicious chamomile tea in Budapest so I bought a couple boxes to bring home, but here it was no more remarkable than any other chamomile tea. We decided the water had to be a factor.

I just made "moroccan eggs" (eggs in purgatory with toasted spiced garbanzos added) the other night, and often slap a poached egg on top of lentils or a warm spinach salad. Or just scrambled over buttered toast if it has been an especially rotten day.

I adore my electric kettle. They're commonplace in European kitchens, but most Americans have never seen one. It's especially handy when I'm making risotto and forget to warm up the broth.

I was surprised at how easy it is to get by without a microwave in my tiny apartment kitchen. It's kind of a pain once in a while if I'm in a hurry to reheat leftovers, but not that big of a deal.

I also like the Target Savignon Blanc. People make fun of me all the time for drinking boxed wine until they actually try it.

Luckily my office has a fridge any my commute is short, so I just carry my leftovers in their container and a drink in a little Hello Kitty tote I found in the $1 section at Target. It's silly but it makes me happy.
