I found a little Donvier at a thrift shop for $6 a couple years ago and love it. Perfect for quick sorbets and super simple to use.

I go through a lot of cumin. Seems to be in almost everything I cook.

Much more attractive than my current method of Sharpie on masking tape.

Two meals that are always in my freezer in single-serve portions: my favorite rice & beans recipe from Food & Wine (suggested as a side but it's great as a main course) and kitchuri. I usually make my friend's recipe, but Vegetarian Times has a good one, too.

@Rucy. At one point there was also a male dog named Pharaoh. I noticed Isis right away since that's my cat's name (someone else named her).

I adore my electric kettle. They're commonplace in European kitchens, but most Americans have never seen one. It's especially handy when I'm making risotto and forget to warm up the broth.

I was surprised at how easy it is to get by without a microwave in my tiny apartment kitchen. It's kind of a pain once in a while if I'm in a hurry to reheat leftovers, but not that big of a deal.

I'd probably just scare the bejeezus out of myself when I get up in the middle of the night for water or something.

I also like the Target Savignon Blanc. People make fun of me all the time for drinking boxed wine until they actually try it.

Sounds yummy! While reading Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children I developed an addiction to nimbu pani, which is a salty limeade.
