we used a laundry basket for our baby once he was too big for the sink.... nothing to buy at all! And anyway, infants barely need many baths anyway!

My mom saved all our Little People (and the various accessories and house, hospital, castle and bus) I played with in the mid 70s. I just handed them over to my almost two year old son who loves them! Wouldn't want the new ones!

I think the crib in the last photo has a side that swings UP so you tilt it up, lay the baby down, and pull in down and secure it...

Here in Germany it's almost a requirement to have a bed for the baby that attaches to the parents' bed... I couldn't have survived the first six months of middle-of0the-night breast feedings without it. And it feels so nice to be almost sharing the bed with the baby...

good plan! Babies barely need anything. And the few things they (or you) need they grow out of or beyond so quickly. Hand-me-downs, craigslist, and ebay should be more or less the only sources anyone needs. Worked for us at least. The only new purchase was a stroller (and lucky us, that was a gift!) Good luck! You'll do wonderfully!

compromise. with vetoes for things you couldn't stand to see every day and a few "I really really love this" (as long as it doesn't conflict with rule #1) for each of you!

In Germany - today -- we use two duvets on a bed for two people, each of which is certainly large enough to cover any extruding limbs. Some hotels and homes then fold them in half during the day (we don't) In Germany -- in the past -- an extra layer was used like the photo above, to add yet another layer of warmth when heat didn't reach all corners of a home.... hope that helps!

Funny - all the IKEA cribs in Europe are smaller than the American ones! (we just bought one in Germany)

I made these last year at Christmas. Nice, but I think I'll use my time to try something new this year.

stationeryfiend: I'm going to assume that" Designer-lejlighed på 42 kvadratmeter" from the source means "42 quadratmeters"! 450 sqaure meters would be close to 5000 square feet!

bouncy seat. what's wrong with that?? And babies cry... once my 4 month old is bigger and I leave him in his crib... he'd really have to be screaming for me to cut short my already short shower!

OK - it's not produce. But eggs don't need to be in the fridge assuming you use them in a relatively timely manner. Here in Germany all the stores have them just out in the open air...

In Germany they give out free bottles of baby food in the restaurant if you ask, along with a small plush toy for older kids. Is that not true in the US?? (plus a free hot drink to anyone with a Family card.... which can be hot chocolate for kids!)
