You can probably Ikea-hack your way to this with a Malm. I can imagine some batting, some fabric of your choice, covered buttons, and the Malm bed in a medium brown color.

Hong Kong is such a competitive market, it's an unnecessary evil to use agents. Here we have to pay 1/2 of the first month's rent to the agent.

However, I've been extremely lucky avoiding this. Found a great flat via gumtree.

Locked Out: What's Your Back-Up Plan?

I used to keep a set in my post box which was rather easy to open. I also keep a spare set at work on my desk, with my boyfriend and our part time maid.

I'm on an 8 cu ft refridgerator, no choice as I moved into a place with a tiny ref, and I live alone. I just keep staples like olives, capers, jams, peanut butter, butter, chocolates (can't resist). I have some bread and usually keep cooked food for a week. Since downsizing, I've learned to buy only vegetables/fresh ingredients that will last me the week and take every effort to be rid of all of them by the week's end. The only staples in my freezer are ice and bacon. I still only shop once a week, and sometimes midweek if I change my mind about a meal, but this is the exception. It's easy to cut down and I find I waste less ingredients.

I trust Mark Bittman for anything kitchen and it's his take on the above.

My kitchen ended up being ...

Cooking
Pasta pot
10in non-stick fying pan
Sauce pan
8in wok
Cutting board
Salad spinner (doubles as colander)
9in chef's knife (+small sharpening stone)
bread knife
kitchen scale
Immersion blender (i'm lucky mine has a mixer attachment)
Pasta machine!
Splatter guard (for frying/draining stuff)
Thermometer
Microplane
Mandolin set.

Baking
9" round
8" square
Muffin pan - 6
1 big mixing bowl
Consumables
Parchment Paper
Press N Seal (instead of cling film, much more useful for sous vide-ing)
Foil
Ziplock Bags
Stainless steel measuring cups and tbsp/tsps

Thanks so much for the Som Tam recipe. Didn't even follow it completely (no cilantro in stock, used a mix of different basils, lemon juice for lime and palm sugar for plain), but it turned out rather sensational.

My go-to cake is Hearts and Minds Cake that I found on the interwebs.

200g dark chocolate, 200g butter, 200g sugar, 5 eggs, 1T flour.

melt chocolate and butter together, cool, add eggs one at a time, add flour. bake 350F 20ish minutes.

so awesome i tried it with chili chocolate with cacao nibs and it was a hit.
