I searched high and low for a modern looking rocking chair that didn't cost an arm and a leg. At the time, the black frame wasn't available, so I had to do a bit of a makeover. I have to agree, the front does sit a bit higher than the back, so your calves really get a good workout when you're rocking in it.

Yep, I saw it the other day at the Burbank Ikea. I was in a hurry (and with 4 month old in tow) so I didn't get a chance to sit in it. But my first thought was how low to the ground it was- being tall, I'm not sure it would be that easy to get into and out of while holding a baby. But if you're shorter this might be just what you've been looking for!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! Books, bath toys, art supplies are all super suggestions. And I like the fact that she will be able to enjoy these things for a long time.

Thanks again!

Living in California, I don't think I could sleep very soundly wondering if the "Big One" might hit and send all those dvd's down on me during the night.

That being said, it looks great! Superb use of vertical space.

We have the Knubbig lamp from Ikea. It creates beautiful patterns/shadows on the wall depending on the design/color of lamp you choose.
