whiskey sour can usually be done just fine at most places. i did, however, just recently watch a member of wolfgang puck catering have to look up on a drink card how to do a whiskey sour - d'oh!

my neighbor has been giving me $15 a month for internet - i'll be sad when the arrangement ends this month, as we're both moving on. if i used internet only i'd try to buy off someone else, but since i need my TV, i see no reason to not to bundle the internet in.

i really wish i could like cilantro - so many of my favorite foods have it in there, and i have to ask for it to be taken out when at restaurants. but, alas, if i taste it, my entire meal will taste exactly like soap. and i've eaten soap, unfortunately.

runs in my family - my mother also can't stand the stuff.

i've lived in two studios, and it's worth it to just do the bed, even if it means your bed has to be your sofa when guests are by. If you can find a way to section the bed off from the main area - a screen or something - it'll avoid feeling like just a big room. Good luck!

I honestly don't like this advice. I'm a designer; there's already a lot of competition out there for jobs, adding more people to the game is going to make it harder to get work.

my parents got me a peugot pepper grinder for my birthday this year. i was using a dinky old nutmeg grater that just wasn't up for the task. well done, mom and dad.

in new haven, where i grew up, we'd eat a sauceless pizza with clam and bacon. moved to chicago - everyone thinks i'm nuts. luckily, there's a new haven style pizza place in town that'll make the pie, but everyone still think i'm absolutely crazy for this being the best pizza ever.

so glad Royal Tenenbaums is on here - but would have loved to have seen the Life Aquatic instead, all those different rooms are so rad.

also a vote in for the 5th Element, although it's not "American," those apartments were great.

@Anita83 Hot Doug's is the most amazing place on the planet. On Fridays/Saturdays, he fries all the fries in duck fat. And his foie dog is to die for. (I wish my diet could afford to go there every day!)

i lived in a garden apartment - in the winter i found it fine, but in the summer, the darkness was sort of a downer because it was so different than the "real" outside. couple that with feeling slightly unsafe - which was more of a problem with my landlord believing the locks didn't need to lock and that a piece of wood would suffice - and yeah, there were problems.
we never flooded, but we were constantly vigilant about keeping all the drains open.
it was VERY hot in the summer, even with the two bedrooms and the living room having AC units - which seems counter intuitive for a garden. in our case, the place got so hot because it was SO humid. flip side, that humidity was great in the winter; i have a humidifier in my new place on all the time.
it's all up to you in the end, though - good luck!
