There are a lot of this style in Queen Village/Pennsport. Maybe wander and see what the neighbors have done. I know of one near Bainbridge that has a similar exterior and is painted with fairly bright colors, and I think it looks great. Depends what style you are going for. Perhaps there are old photos of the house or similar ones- maybe here http://www.phillyhistory.org/PhotoArchive/ - to guide you. Good luck!

I always take the shampoo/conditioner/sewing kit even if I don't use it. (I actually assumed those things are built into the room rates at some level. Is anything really complimentary?). Anyway, we now have a lovely collection in our guest bathroom, and they are all carry-on friendly to boot.

I think it looks fine white too.

Where did you find the rug?

efaucets.com. Customer service isn't so hot but they have a ton of options/brands and you can search by single hole, etc. Our contractor cautioned us against the IKEA one that I'd picked out. Plus I don't believe IKEA provides much if any of a warranty against leaks, but I could be wrong.

When I think of curtain rods (not all that often) I think of Umbra. They have a pretty wide selection on their site:

Benjamin Moore has these as well, at least for the Aura line. They are 2x2, same coverage area as their sample pots, and they cost the same- $3.99.

I think Domino had a feature recently- could have also been Philadelphia Home- where black floating glass frames were hung on a bright orange wall. It was wallpaper though, not paint...

If the color proves to be too much, what about painting stripes? You could be as conservative/daring as you like, and it might still be more subtle...something like this?

Always get a name and document the call, and if you're not getting anywhere, demand a supervisor/manager. Then dispute the charge in writing, send any documentation you have of what was actually ordered and threaten to report them to the BBB. If the charge went directly onto a credit card, dispute it with the credit card company.

That's my 2 cents from years of dealing with a certain large monopolistic cable provider, anyway...

One tip we followed was getting three knives- chef, paring and bread- rather than a block. Then you can store them in a drawer rather than take up counter space.

I didn't have time to do much comparative research- if you happen to subscribe to Cook's Illustrated, I pulled out every issue we have and just followed their recommendations. Made the process much easier.

Just moved last week myself. At least here in Philly, UHaul has a take a box/leave a box bin- I picked up a couple there and plan to return them as soon as we are unpacked. Or, anyone moving around here...you're welcome to all the boxes we have, and while I'm at it, our movers (Mambo) were beyond fabulous.

I submitted this as a Good Question, but I'm desperate- any solution for fixing the awful IKEA drawer bottoms? I've never owned one that didn't bow and eventually collapse. We're moving soon and will leave it behind, but in the meantime, has anyone exchanged them successfully? The grooves are so shallow that I can't figure out what to wedge in there that would support the weight of clothes.

Thanks!

Yikes. What's next, suing Consumer Reports? (Actually, come to think of it, our local food critic is being sued for allegedly misidentifying the type of steak he ate- and didn't like- so maybe this is a trend...)

Ridiculous. She should file a complaint with the BBB.

Our street-level windows are bolted shut and the rest are held together with paint. (yes, we rent and are house-hunting!) So we use the central air set at 75, and 2 fans in the third-floor bedroom. The basement-level kitchen is always freezing, and barely any cool air makes it to the top floor. Any hints- other than closing the basement vent, which we've tried- to force more air upstairs?

I can't keep anything in my window box. Well, that's not true- the squirrels ignore the grasses and go right for the flowers. For some reason, my neighbors don't seem to have this problem, but every day there are new holes in our planter. So what can we do to squirrel-proof?

I have 2 sets from Ballard Designs- they're a bit cheaper and are always on sale off-season. They also have a 24" table.
