I keep most in a cabinet above the stove that I can reach on tippy toes. My faves go in the built-in microwave below. I decided not to ever use it again, so until it is removed completely, it might as well be good for something!

Oh my, my husband needs this so! He has to wear suits for work, and then drive, so he comes home looking like rumplystiltskin. I would put it in his closet and install a garment hook for him so that he could use it as soon as he disrobes. And an environmental side benefit to giving us this fab gift would be the huge reduction in his dry cleaning. So really, a gift to the planet as well, right?!

What a wonderful daydream to distract me on this crisp winter day! I have to say, it has been great to read the comments and be reminded of so many classic great songs. I've been inspired to create a mix with all my favorites, and I'm sure I'll find some new songs based on everyone's ideas.

That said, we would simply have to test out the sound quality on our new, snow white Geneva Sound System with some lovely, moody jazz...John Coltrane's My Favorite Things, all 13:43 minutes of it. And then another looong jazz classic, not traditionally associated with Christmas except in my family, my father's favorite song of all time, It Ain't Necessarily So by Herbie Mann. It always makes me feel like getting cozy and making something warm to sip on (mulled wine, cocoa, Earl Grey, hot toddy...). And to round it out, we'd get some deep belly laughs listening to David Sedaris's odd little voice reading Holidays On Ice.
Happy Holidays to all, stay warm and cozy!

I agree with trillium. We are now having to replace two coil hoses after only one year. They kink, and then the kinks lead to breaks that shoot water. They might seem cute and practical in the beginning, but they end up being disposable and in a landfill somewhere. Think green. Better to get a good quality hose in the old style, and then use a hose pot to disguise it when not in use. I just got a cute "squash" style hose pot from Smith and Hawken, on sale currently:

Help! I am curious if anyone has experience using the Eames Rocker with a baby. It was just on sale at DWR and my husband impusively bought it for us (we are not even pregnant yet). I love the design and look of it, but don't know if it is at all practical, and would like some advice before it is delivered. I saw a discussion about modern rockers/gliders from a few months ago, but nobody answered this question. I also wonder about the Rex Rocker as well, or anything else both practical and attractive in this price range, unlike most of the much pricier stuff mentioned in the previous discussion...
Thanks so much!

I too love climbing into my big cozy sleigh bed! I got mine from the now defunct Evolution Furniture outlet in Berkeley, but here is a link to Copeland Furniture in Vermont that makes it:

I have the Sarah sleigh bed in maple and cherry, with georgous raised panels. It also comes in a shaker style spindal bed. For me, this is a timeless design of exceptional quality that I plan to have for years to come, and it works well with our European Sleepworks mattress and boxspring. No sense compromising good sleep for style!

Good Questions: Modern beds with space for a box spring?
