Apartment Therapy - think.jot.draw giveaway!

kelton, I live in Indianapolis and the midwest is maybe not as lacking in diversity as it might seem to coast-ers. R&B is headquartered in the Minneapolis area, which is more than 30% minority (including large incoming immigrant populations of Hmong, Liberian, and Somali folks). Plus, from what I could see, the catalog wasn't shot in Minnesota.

But I was excited about the small space, too.

I don't want to live in a world as white, white, white as the Room & Board mini-catalog. I do, however, love living in a home with one of their great sofas. Go figure.

Seriously, I didn't notice it until my sister said something, but the stories portray an incredibly non-diverse clientele for R&B. What's up with that?

Hey Faith,

Quick questions: are the plums meant to be quartered after halving (i.e., cutting them into eighths) or just quartered (cut the halves in halves)? And are the quarters meant to be crescents or chunks?

I'm just trying to get it right before I make it tonight for my new neighbor!

I can't resist mentioning two great place to eat in the area (where my guy and I honeymooned last October). We're headed up to Beulah, Michigan, for vacation next week and will be making stops at both of these treasures either on the approach or the return!

Everyday People is yummy and only a little decadent. We ate there twice in five days and savored eat bite. It's in Douglas.

Oh wow, the Journeyman is amazing! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have great, warm service, and possibly the best bread I have ever had in my life - seedy salt bread, which may be the ideal bread for sour cherry spreads. In Fennville, it's a short and lovely drive from Douglas/Saugatuck.

Finally, if you're staying overnight, the guys who run the Pines Motor Lodge are wonderful. We holed up at one of their cottages and had a lovely time.

I had fried yuca on Tuesday night at a great Peruvian restaurant in Indianapolis... They served it with aji sauce - a revelation for me.
